Time sharing between birds.31 May 2005 06:29 GMT4
I know many of you have multiple companion birds, I would like to know
how you manage time sharing. I am thinking about devoting a wall in my
office to bird cages (two of them, 18x18x24) and putting down a plastic
matt, then adding a few wooden bird play areas that I've purchased.
Looking up breeder based on band numbers.31 May 2005 04:55 GMT18
If you have a band number how do you go about looking up what breeder
that bird came from.
Kakariki - any way to stop it laying eggs?31 May 2005 03:04 GMT10
We have a pet Kakariki - and although we've had pet birds before for the
last 15 years or so, this is the first female we've had.
Its about 8 months old and has settled down and has made itself at home, and
has now started egg laying. So far there's been about 8 eggs, the first 4 at
Chlamydia psittaci 31 May 2005 02:02 GMT6
Should my young, recently purchased Pet Store Budgie be tested for Chlamydia
psittaci?  My daughter-in-law seems to think these birds are at great risk
of having this disease.

Hi, all
We all wish we could do something to really help protect wild birds from the

Mortality rate of baby birds.26 May 2005 05:38 GMT2
>From a the perspective of the health of the bird, I'm curious if the
mortality rate drops any as birds get older. I've had breeders tell me
that the most difficult time for a bird is when it's being weaned and
that they lose more birds in this period than babies they have sold
Mallards life span 25 May 2005 19:39 GMT4
Our Ducks Dennis & Denise have returned!! <VBG>. They had a VERY short
visit last year since a neighbor had a new cat that was very active at
chasing them. Thought I would not see them again but they showed up about a
week ago and have moved in again. I'm assuming it's the same ...

Bounding hehavior....23 May 2005 02:57 GMT1
If you raise a bird from a baby (say 3 months old) and most of that
time you are his/her primary caretaker and spend more time with the
bird than anyone else in the household is their a possibility the bird
will bound (i.e. want to be with, play with, etc...) some other member

gets used to them after awhile but she won't go near you, she'll just
stare if you where anything striped that she isn't used to yet. does
this have anything to do with instinct? or do i just have a really odd
Trying to make a decision...22 May 2005 17:51 GMT1
I local bird speciality store has a two year old Quaker that I spent
about an hour with the other day. I'm planing to go visit a few
Pyrrhura (Green cheek/yellow-sides) breeders next weekend to look at
2-3 month old babies, but now I'm considering this little two year old
Parakeet found outside22 May 2005 17:42 GMT15
My daughter-in-law found a Parakeet outside about five years ago.  She took
excellent care of it after the rescue but the keet recently died.  She feels
guilty about the death and feels it happened because she never got her to
eat fresh food.
Comparing a Sun, Jenday and Green Cheek conure21 May 2005 22:53 GMT28
My only experience has been with one Green Cheek and he had several
personality traits I really adore. For example, in the evenings I would
sit to watch television and he would be happy to perch on my sholder
