Aviary Auto Feeders?30 Mar 2006 01:11 GMT1
My son has a small mixed aviary containing budgies, small finches and a
couple of china quail and he will have to leave them for a week. He is going
to arrange to have someone visit them for food and water but I was wondering
if there was some kind of "automated" food and ...
Bar Spacing - Umbrella Cockatoo28 Mar 2006 22:59 GMT10
I have found a company who are happy to custom build a cage to my exact
requirements, at a cost of around £3,000 GBP (Mirrored Stainless Steel,
Hospital Grade).
My rough dimensions are as follows:
Eclectus Moult28 Mar 2006 22:26 GMT1
I am a little concerned about my 9 month old SI Eclectus "Ray".  He's
been loosing/replacing his flight feathers over the past couple of
months, seems to be normal.  But for the past 3 weeks, he is loosing a
lot of his covert feathers just above his claws and lower thighs.  Down
unhappy parakeet22 Mar 2006 01:09 GMT2
Five years ago I bought some middle-aged parakeets off of some
relatives of a man who died and left the birds without anyone to take
care of them. One of them was very lively, the younger of the two. I
understood that while one was close to ten, the young once was only
What the heck is she chomping?22 Mar 2006 01:07 GMT5
Lovebirds don't require grit to digest food like parakeets/budgies do.  But
I remember very well hearing my 'keets chomping on grit.
My lovebird, Peaches, makes similar chomping sounds.  She's usually very
fluffy and looks very comfortable and a bit sleepy when she does this.  I
Peaches pecks at fresh corn20 Mar 2006 08:26 GMT8
I got a small cob of yellow corn at the market yesterday to give Peaches
(lovebird) a chance to try it.  I washed it, broke it in half and put it in
her treat holder.  Looks like maybe she's pecked two or 3 kernels of the
corn off the cob but she's not all that excited about it.  Oh ...
bird flu18 Mar 2006 18:05 GMT3
Hi, my husband just discovered this chat forum and introduced it to me,
I thought I'd post a topic that I am sure many of you will be concerned
such as I. THE BIRD FLU!  I am nervous enough about the possibility of
it spreading human to human but what about our precious little
Seasonal Hormonal Change18 Mar 2006 03:26 GMT9
I have a 3.5 year old sexed female Senegal Parrot.  She's my only bird
and has always been very well adjusted.  Never has she bitten me, and,
in fact she's always been very sweet with me.  She may even regard me
as her mate, as she guards me and will often try to "defend" me from my
Is my red-factor male sick or healthy?17 Mar 2006 03:48 GMT7
I bought a red-factor male in Sept. 2005 and he lacks traits one might
expect. Aside from being dark orange and appearently in good health, he
shows no interest in hens, he doesn't sing but does chirps, no other
canaries seem interested in him. And now I've come to conclude he likes

non singing male canary15 Mar 2006 11:37 GMT2
can someone shed some light on this problem.  My canary is eight years
old.  He has always sang remarkably.  When we left him for a week or
two we had him cared for and when we returned he always continued to
sing.
Found budgie Sunnynook14 Mar 2006 02:38 GMT105
A budgie has been found, Sunnynook-Mairangi Bay, (North Shore, Auckland, New
Zealand.) Anyone around here lost one? Please describe, so the right owner
gets him back.
After three days in our garden, he found his way into the doves' aviary and

sexed, but really likes to guard the marble eggs they put in the cage.

What anyone knows about the bird - He is lat least 10 or 12 years old,
Dog plucked out Dove's tail feathers!13 Mar 2006 12:45 GMT6
My greyhound snapped at my ringneck dove the other day and plucked out most
of her tail feathers, she's not injured or in pain and there was no blood or
anything, she went right back to cooing and laughing right away, will these
grow back?  (the little bugger popped open her cage ...
