Article: "Parrot Nutrition 101"26 Feb 2007 01:48 GMT3
I read this today on "About Exotic Pets: Parrot Nutrition 101 - What Not
to Feed".  I was surprised to hear about sprouted lima, navy and fava
beans.  Can anyone provide more info about why we shouldn't feed these
beans to our birds?  Thanks.  LindaA
Let's talk birds....25 Feb 2007 03:24 GMT9
Not to start a big thing about pellets vs. seeds, but perhaps the best thing
to do is go to the experts. Our birds.
The seed mix we've been getting lately has little bits of what one would
think were goodies for the fids. Bits of carrot, coconut, and dried greens.
Curious About Wing Beating24 Feb 2007 16:36 GMT1
I'll be brief.  We have 2 "rare" parakeets (read: blue and white) -
absolute dolls.  Our female (Anwen) will often hang onto a perch and
beat her wings rapidly, creating quite a breeze!  Our male (Ares) has
never done this that we know of.
Easy free budgie software24 Feb 2007 12:55 GMT1
Can anyone recommend free bird breeder software for budgies? I downloaded a
few trials and kintraks seems to be the easiest to understand. I couldn't
even get started with the others. Why do they have to make them so complex?
Free would be best but if not I'll have to put some ...
My New parakeet is very quiet...21 Feb 2007 22:17 GMT4
We just brought home a new parakeet, its our first pet. I understand
that she must be very nervous, and am following the advice of a lot of
users in this newsgroup giveing her time, not asking her to sit on my
finger etc.

Snuggle Sack warning!21 Feb 2007 02:34 GMT29
We thought this Snuggle Sack would be a nice warm hut for our lovebird
George but this morning I came in and found him in there and he was
struggling and couldn't come out. His leg was caught in some fleece and
threads inside and he was freaking out and fighting it furiously. I ...
Questions re: sudden death of our parrotlet17 Feb 2007 23:52 GMT13
I am new to this group, but hope that I can get some helpful insight.
My daughter came home from school yesterday to find her 5 month old
parrotlet dead in his cage. Our family has been through some
tremendously difficult times over the years and my daughter has become

Nesting material?17 Feb 2007 19:22 GMT3
We have a lovebird and just got him a Snuggle Sack, the little tent with
the hole in the front that they can sleep in, to keep warm on cold nights.
( we're in the north )
What kind of safe warm nesting material can we toss in there for him, so

Online Avian Store17 Feb 2007 19:07 GMT3
I was looking to buy a cage online and stumbled upon
PollysPerch.com .  I figured I'd share this gem because it seemed to
have anything an avian lover can dream of.
There slogan "What's everyone squawking about?" is cute as well.
Cockateil with broken blood feather12 Feb 2007 23:44 GMT3
This is a very unpleasant story but I feel that I should post it.  My
wife's  sister had 2 cockateils 1 male and 1 female. Apparenlty her
husband heard one of the birds chattereing this morning and when he
went to uncover the cage he found a lot of blood in the cage. The
