African Cichlids01 Nov 2003 00:24 GMT7
I bought a 55 gallon tank, set it up, bought 2 African cichlids from Petland
Discounts (that is how they were labeled in their aquarium)... later I
bought 5 more Africian Cichlids from a pure fish store and I know there
names... I would like to know the names of the two I bought at ...

Ive lost 2 fish in 2 days now. My dominant male m. Zebra "Nkata Bay" and

3 days ago to catch a couple holding females, I forgot to make sure the
Pacu31 Oct 2003 14:56 GMT4
I have a 18" Pacu which has clearly outgrown its tank (75 gallon).  I
live in NJ and have tried all of the local aquariums, retail stores,
restaurants w/ large tanks, tank cleaning services, etc. and have been
unable to place it w/ someone w/ a tank large enough.  my

Planaria30 Oct 2003 07:22 GMT1
I have purchased a pair of Kribs not too long ago and have discovered the
addition of planaria in my tank. I've only seen one so I'm hoping that there
are not a lot in there.
Is there something I should do to dispose of these? I have two Kribs, a
Tanganyika Pics30 Oct 2003 00:21 GMT5
I have started uploading pictures from my trip to Lake Tanganyika. You can find
the latest at www.amateurcichlids.com/tanganyika/chituta.shtml or
www.amateurcichlids.com/tanganyika/index.shtml and check the links often as they
will all work once all the pictures are uploaded. The ...
Perhaps a problem?28 Oct 2003 04:15 GMT3
I have 2 convicts in one tank and one of them has this reddish dusty rust
colour to his sides... Now he has had it for quite a while and I was
wondering if this is anything I should be worried about?
Thanks.
Filter at end (side) of tank?28 Oct 2003 00:13 GMT6
I've seen a few pictures of tanks used as a room divider - I like the look,
but can't figure out how I'd  handle the issue of the filters, if I'm using
back-filters like the Emperor 400 - to eliminate filters on either the front
or the back side of the tank, I guess I'd have to go ...
cichlids scared of light/shadows27 Oct 2003 06:38 GMT6
I could use your opinion on how to make my cichlid tank more sociable.  They
are very skittish and hide in the extensive rockwork whenever there is
movement in the room.  The tank looks empty after they scatter and hide from
the movement.
Discus and Arowana27 Oct 2003 05:10 GMT7
I was wondering if it is okay to put arowana and discus in the same tank?
And how come my arowana does not eat?  I feed it krill, guppies, and arowana
food and it does not eat.  I just got it about 1 week.  It is 6-7 inches
long.  Very healthy, however, would not eat.  Thanks.
Recommendations for Hex tank27 Oct 2003 01:23 GMT12
I have a 27-29 gallon hexagonal tank and need some suggestions as to what
type of fish would be suitable, water conditions aside.  Would convicts like
such a tank?  What about silver dollars?  I'm open to any combination of
fish as long as it's not platies, mollies, guppies, you get ...
Which GE silicone?25 Oct 2003 22:07 GMT8
I've forgotten which silicone is tank safe?  I need a couple of tubes
for a large tank I am building.  Any help?
Advice - Male krib died24 Oct 2003 22:47 GMT4
Unfortunately,  My male Krib died today. He was over 2 years old - I don't
know their life span. But now the female is all by herself staying in one
corner. Assuming there is not a systemic illness in the tank which has been
stable for quite some time, I don't know what to do about ...
Albino Oscars (was Blueberry Oscars?)24 Oct 2003 13:39 GMT5
I posted over at SACSG and the responses so far indicate that the
White Oscars that are common at LFSs these days are pigmented and not
true albinos. However, no one seems to know where they come from yet,
but they say that the lack of pink in the eyes and the orange
Punishment, solitary style.24 Oct 2003 03:20 GMT28
I was at my local "experienced" lfs, inquiring about turning in one of my
trouble makers, a Red Parrot cichlid.
I was given a different alternative that I'd never heard of done to a fish
before today, just wondering if anyone else has done it.
