Is it required to have filtration on a 1000 gallon plus tank? The tank will house a wide variety of african cichlids. My wife and I are looking into buying a house and might be getting such a good deal I will have quite a large sum of money on my hands, and I'm

| Proposed stocking for Tanganyikan 55gal | 26 Jun 2004 19:21 GMT | 1 |
I have a 55g tank that I've placed plenty of rock and have sand for the substrate. I'm thinking of housing 4 each of Lamprologus brichardi, Julidochromis transcriptus and Lamprologus ocellatus. Does that sound feasible?

| Using bricks as rocks | 25 Jun 2004 19:44 GMT | 3 |
I'm in the process of setting up an African tank (previously housed S.Americans). I was wondering if old bricks (never actually used in construction, though) can be added as rockwork? It seems the holes in the bricks would lend themselves for some of the smaller cichlids.

| Will a Severum and Giant Gourami get along ? | 25 Jun 2004 14:38 GMT | 3 |
I have a giant gourami (scientific name:Osphronemus gorami) in my 55 gallon tank which has reached a size of 9 inches and continues to grow. He's already consumed 12 of my neon tetras and is clearly the "big bully" of the block.

| Predicting offspring color | 25 Jun 2004 11:22 GMT | 3 |
I remember tables in HS for predicting offspring from 2 different plants or parents. Hoe does it appy to a batch of Severum eggs? The female is Gold, the male is green. Isn't it something like the 1st batch is 100% the female, the next is 25% male etc etc?

| my convict is an ornery little fish | 21 Jun 2004 12:41 GMT | 1 |
I got a little convict a couple weeks ago. At first she was shy and hid behind the rock in the tank, but now if I put my hand near the tank to get a sip from my beer she charges my hand with her gills flared out. Also she has very nice color, yellow on her dorsal fin, blue on ...

| Fin Rot | 20 Jun 2004 22:22 GMT | 11 |
I have a 100 gallon fresh water tank with 12 angelfish, or 6 breeding pair. I discovered that I have a couple that stayed up in the corner, at the time I thought it was just what fish do, territorial and stuff. Weeks later I noticed their fins starting to look as if they are melted.
