Moonlight bulb with Malawis22 Jul 2004 01:33 GMT1
Not even sure I fully know what I'm talking about here but does anyone use a
moonlight tube for after the main lights go out. I know they use them in
reff tanks for corals that glow. If so what is it and how long is it on for
etc...
Yellow lab being harassed21 Jul 2004 23:36 GMT2
I have a 55 gallon tank with 1 male and 2 female yellow labidochromis
caeruleus. For the past few days, one of the females has been getting
harassed by the male and even the other female. She has been taking
refuge behind the heater. This morning, I noticed that her tail fin
I may owe WalMart, PetSmart apology--21 Jul 2004 19:18 GMT6
:-)
I have long railed against Wal Mart and Petsmart for selling Pacu and
claiming an adult size of only 10 or 11 inches -- common knowledge is
that Pacus grow into huge fish. My issue was that they were selling
New owner (almost)21 Jul 2004 07:45 GMT5
My wife is wanting to get a south american cichlid from PetCo.  They
are like $5.99 for the small ones.
We have never owned a fish, so we're trying to research as much as we
can online.  Does anyone have any good recommendations for tank
Yellow lab still holding20 Jul 2004 16:11 GMT1
I noticed today, that my yellow lab that is holding, is STILL holding, but
one fry escaped, and she's chasing it of sorts... not terribly, but when in
sight, it's persued...
Is it time to make her spit them? Should I isolate the fry from her, put her
A pair of Kribs in a Platy tank?19 Jul 2004 21:30 GMT3
I've got a 40 Breeder tank that I'm cycling with Platies.  My
intention was to put some corys in for the bottom, but my reading has
got me interested in Cichlids.  Some questions:
Are Kribs a good choice for beginner cichlid?  Rams were another that
Nitrate Shock15 Jul 2004 22:36 GMT2
I've read a few times in the past posts about being careful of 'nitrate
shock' from doing large water changes on tanks that have high nitrate
levels.
Could someone fill me in on a safe level of nitrate reduction over a given

And maybe some new world cichlids but I would like to get some ideas
What South/Central Americans for 55?15 Jul 2004 14:55 GMT2
In the near future I will be setting up a new 55 gal. with the idea of
having South or Central American cichlids. The local water is quite hard,
which my Malawis and Brichardi love. What I was hoping for is a "Cichlid
Recipe" for some New World cichlids.
Rocks in a box of glass...13 Jul 2004 15:04 GMT8
I went down to the river and gathered several buckets of large-ish rocks, to
put in the 55g.  I had attempted to do several things with it, but as many
have said before, a 55g 4' tank, is limited, it's the depth that gets ya...
So I'm going to organize a mound that reaches 3/4 to ...

Fluval 404 leaking????12 Jul 2004 21:47 GMT2
Has anybody seen this before. I have a Fluval 404. Have had it for over a
year with no problems. I recently got a RainbowLifeguard 300 FBF & hooked it
up inline with the output of my 404. Since that time I have had a small leak
from the filter. I replaced the seal a week ago & all ...

I have a newly set up 55 gallon mbuna tank. Currently, the tank houses
4 demasoni, 4 maylandia estherae, and 3 labidochromis caeruleus. The
demasonis are all about 1/2-1" long. They are juveniles and pretty
shy.

Which filter?12 Jul 2004 00:07 GMT1
Just wanting an opinion on which filter is better,  a HOT-Magnum 250 pro
(with bio-wheel), or an Emporer 400.
It will go on an African Chichlid 75 gallon bow front, along with an
Aquaclear 500.
