Is it the male or female that holds the fry in the mouth ?
And from the time you notice it holding the fry, how long before the parent
can no longer keep them safe in the mouth ?.
I have one that is holding fry again and I need to set up another tank

One of our fish has developed a white lump on a fin. It doesn't seem to

New Fry questions?31 Aug 2004 02:33 GMT1
When can newly hatched fry be removed to a new tank of their own? These
are Severum. Is there a best time to do it, growth wise?  I'm asking so they
can be better fed, and the parents can start over again.
Emperor 400 filter media alternatives?26 Aug 2004 03:29 GMT1
I'd like to use something besides the Emperor 400 cartridges (with the
charcoal) in the first position for particulate filtration - something less
expensive -  I already use the media baskets in the second position with
crushed coral to help with the PH - I have loads of uncut blue ...

Color changing Oscar21 Aug 2004 13:17 GMT5

When purchased, it was about 1 1/2 inches long, silvery white with
light orange irregular vertical stripes. Two days after being in the
pond with the other fish, it turned black with silver veining, like a
Tail fin regeneration20 Aug 2004 06:10 GMT7
I have a female yellow labidochromis caeruleus in my tank who has lost
almost her entire tail fin due to aggression from a male yellow lab. I
have isolated her in a small mesh box in the same tank to allow her to
recuperate. I have also been adding Melafix to promote fin growth.

Red zebra question.15 Aug 2004 21:53 GMT1
I have a pair of Malawis which I see everywhere being sold as red zebras.
When I went to some sites online to get more info on these fish, the red
zebras I found did not look like what I have. My "red zebras" are all
orange with no spots or blotches. The ps. estherae which I ...

I seem to be having bad luck getting the batch of babies.
