algae woes30 Dec 2004 12:54 GMT3
Hau kolas..quick question..short of snails, can someone reccommend any
readily available algae-eaters for a malawai tank (75 gallon) in the
"aggressive" ;) category? Plecos are apparently not an option..tank
dominaters will kill these. Removing the dominaters will not help..these ...
Feeding Mbunas.26 Dec 2004 14:43 GMT4
How many times per day do you think I should feed young Mbuna's?  There are
14 in the tank.
I have been feeding them maybe 3 - 4 times a day, with only enough food for
them to have it all eaten within a minute.
Fish that are okay with Convicts24 Dec 2004 01:56 GMT2
Okay, I know convicts are holy terrors and breed like rabbits but my 3
convicts are doing nicely in my 50 gallon tank with 2 clown loaches and
a pleco.
So, what other fish could I add that would be okay in this tank. I
Cichlids and memory21 Dec 2004 12:38 GMT4
I removed a male and a female convicts for two weeks. This is because they
breed all the time, and defend 1/3 of the tank (120 g). Well, I put them
back yesterday, and guess what, they went right back to the same spot --
defending it again. There are about 20 hiding places, and ...

I am getting a water softner???19 Dec 2004 13:16 GMT5
On Dec 22 I am having a water softner installed.  I had 14 grain hardness.
What would be the best method to acclimate the fish to the new softer water
condition, or should I use the hard water from an unconditioned outside cold
faucet to service the tank with.  Since it will be the ...
Changed my mind....going for mixed Lake Malawi Cichlids.19 Dec 2004 00:33 GMT1
I presume they are easier to keep than Discus?
The aquarium is a Juwel Vision 260 (260 UK Litres).
A few newbie questions if that is OK.
1:  I medium sized Pebble substrate in the aquarium, will this suffice?
2nd batch of eggs...17 Dec 2004 12:22 GMT2
Hi all;
Well, 10 days later and after my angels ate all of their eggs, they're
spawning again today.  But this time, I took the leaf and put it in a
breeding net.  I'll keep everyone posted.

Reading water tests15 Dec 2004 15:02 GMT14
Should water tests be read with a light shining through it, and held up
against the white part of the card, or in shadow, held up against the white
part of the card?
Questions about stocking new tank14 Dec 2004 15:07 GMT1
I'm in the planning stages of setting up a 55 gallon tank in which I
would like to keep some Mbuna.  Out of the tap, my water has a pH of
8.2, so my research indicates that should be good for Mbuna without
having to adjust the pH.  I'm thinking of getting an Eheim 2126
