Question...23 Feb 2005 10:56 GMT6
I have a friend at work that has a tank.  He claims that his Texas cichlid
(f)and his convict (m) mated, laid eggs and they hatched and he has like
100 fry!  I have been an aquarist for many years, but I am unfamiliar with
this cross breeding.  Also, I looked in my book and I ...

Picked up some sandstone and slate rock pieces from my local bulk
landscape store for my 20 gallon freshwater tank.  Can anyone tell me
if these are good to use in an aquarium?  Any comments at all?  Thanks
Softwater Cichlids23 Feb 2005 02:33 GMT6
I need a suggestion on some Cichlids that are easy to care for, may produce
fry, and who thrive in my soft water.  I taking all 76 3 month old platy fry
to the LFS for a credit.  I have 4 community tanks, so I thought perhaps I
would try some Cichlids.  They will start off in a 10 ...
Uncontrollable High pH22 Feb 2005 01:03 GMT19
The water here is off the chart on my test strips for ph and Total
alkalinity (kH, I believe). Is there anything I can do to lower the
Alkalinity, and then the pH, preferably without changing the hardness?
The hardness is just right, it runs right around 120 ppm. I've tried
New strain of Blue Rams in LFS22 Feb 2005 00:37 GMT5
I live in Minnesota, USA, and for as long as I can remember all the Blue
Rams (Mikrogeophagus ramirezi) have been the 'German Blue Rams' from the
stock of German breeders that had bread a more colorfull (?) strain.
They are torpedo shaped, about 1/2 as high as they are long, with ...

Yellow Labs - Behavior Question19 Feb 2005 18:31 GMT16
I have been raising red zebra's with success for years now, recently started

up with 3 males and 3 females. Very unactive fish. They all seem to sit in
nitches under the rocky boulder-like landscape, ...

I have a 60l community tank with tetras, a pair of M. ramirezi and

Need help with cichlid informational sheet.14 Feb 2005 12:54 GMT5
Over the last few months, I've been creating care sheets to distribute
to interested customers at my workplace.  I've now gotten to the
cichlid category... Despite my experience in the pet trade, the
cichlids are a family of fish that I only have a general knowledge of.
