yellow lab may be sick30 Aug 2005 01:32 GMT7
Hi all.  I got 4 young african cichlids a month ago.  up until today, my 2
yellow labs and 2 demasonis have been very healthy and happy, but i just
noticed one of the labs is just sitting on the bottom.  He's alive and
breathing, but not moving much.  Earlier this evening he ...

Anyone keeps Livingstonii's cichlid?28 Aug 2005 23:11 GMT4
I just got six of them, juveniles about 1". They are eating well
although timid still. Anyone has had experience with these fish? They
seem hardy fellows and I'd like to see them breed and mouthbrood the eggs.
cheers

I can't google them so, I assume they are fairly new.
Couple of questions24 Aug 2005 18:49 GMT1
I have a male aulonocara baenschi alone in a 30 gal. tank (had to move him
because he is too docile for the other fish I had him with.)
Question 1: Currently he has small gravel as substrate, should I replace
that with sand?
Angel fish question24 Aug 2005 11:49 GMT6
I have two albino angel fish. Recently I have seen that the bigger one has a
black ray in his upper fin.
I have had them since they were dime size. Anything to worry about?
New tank!  MTS20 Aug 2005 19:56 GMT2
The 55g planted tank is running itself now.  Full of plants, no algae,
fish living and breeding in their little underwater garden.  I added
five clown loaches to the group and they are the final touch.
The 20g is home to two large angels that have laid eggs successfully
clown loaches and p. saulosi20 Aug 2005 18:07 GMT3
I have a new tank that has been cycled and set up with plants and rock
with holes in them for P. saulosi. I found several clown loaches at a
unbelievable price ($2.50 each) and put them in the tank. I wa
wondering if they would be good tank mates for the p. saulosi
My oscar died :(15 Aug 2005 19:08 GMT4
So sad and annoyed!  My oscar died for no reason!  This is almost the
worst of my run of bad luck this week.  It's not fair, I tried to do
everything right for this fish.  Fish keeping is impossible!  I can't
even keep an oscar alive!!
Heater died - maybe not ??15 Aug 2005 02:47 GMT1
The heater in my 55 Mbuna tank apparently ran continuously and I noticed
that about half of the fish couldn't take the temperature - some of the
bigger fish banged into it from time to time - I figured that the heater was
shot - I unplugged the heater, and let the tank water cool ...
I found the type of fish... now what?15 Aug 2005 02:43 GMT4
Thanks to kay-bee's link I found the unidentified fish in my tank Tilapia
buttikoferi, found at
http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1442   This is a
gorgeous fish but it grows to as big as 12 inches.  Mine are about an inch
Female Yellow Lab Spawns without Mate!13 Aug 2005 16:29 GMT2
When I noticed that my yellow lab was carrying eggs, I moved her to her own
10 gallon tank. After she released the fry, she was kept in another tank in
which she is the sole occupant  to build up her strength. I've been feeding
her well for about eight weeks with some cichlid ...
New here, but maybe I'm in the wrong place...12 Aug 2005 20:04 GMT1
I have come here in the hope of finding info about discus being a cichlid,
but I think i'm in the wrong place...  Can anyone point me in the right
direction for a discus newsgroup?

New here but not new to fish12 Aug 2005 15:26 GMT3
I've been reading through all of the old messages and learning allot about
cichlids which I recently started keeping.  I've been keeping tropical fish
for over 30 years and love it.
We recently moved into a new home after almost 30 years in one location and
