Help with Cichlids29 Jan 2006 01:10 GMT3
I noticed tonight that my male cichlid is nipping at my female cichlid and
her fins and some scales are off of her body.  Any suggestions on what to do
for her and how to make the male leave her alone?
Is my Zebra Danio sick?26 Jan 2006 12:24 GMT2
I have recently bough 6 Zebra Danios and noticed immediately after
putting then in the tank one of them has no stripes from about 2/3 down
its body to the end of the tail and also appears to have red gills.
However, he seems fine and very active and is eating.  He is showing no
bad wake-up today25 Jan 2006 01:57 GMT3
My 3 1/2-year-old grandson got up early today, didn't wake up mommy or
grandma and went downstairs to play.
I had been cleaning my 55-gal. cichlid/turtle tank, didn't finish and left
the self-priming siphon tube in the tank.  He pulled a chair over to the

HI, I have a 55 gallon and a friend of my sons gave us his whol

peaking is now almost down to zero but the nitrites are high. I hav
Canister filters23 Jan 2006 05:32 GMT5
I'm looking to add a canister filter to my 55 gal tank to suppliment or
replace the current Whisper filter. Does anybody have any recommendations on
brands and / or sizes? Any pros or cons you could share will save this guy
some anxiety at the pet shop!
[Poll] Most Popular Cichlids?22 Jan 2006 14:37 GMT15
I just got a good deal on a baby Blue Frontosa (Mpimbwe).  His/Her parents
were wild, I believe that he/she will be a beauty one day.  I plan to get
some more as soon as my local fs gets some in--I'd love to breed them.
Anyhow, I am new to Cichlids and I was wondering what the ...

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me out with a few questions
regarding Blue Acara's.
I am looking at getting a 3 foot tank in the next couple of months and

Sajica baby07 Jan 2006 13:05 GMT4
First time in the NG, and I need help. My pair of sajica (what is the
genus? Is Archocentrus right?), just had 20 or so babies. I read
somewhere that the parents are able to raise them to maturity with
crushed pellets they spit to the wrigglers. Is it right, or they need
breeding nightmare06 Jan 2006 20:08 GMT24
hi, I currently have a 5ft mbuna tank, established for about four years, the
problem I have is they are prolifically breeding, most of the young are
surviving as I have plenty of rock and I will occasionally fish them out and
grow them on in the fish room until they are large enough ...

Nitrite level high for 2 weeks

substrate aquaclear filter. Been cycling for about 5 weeks and the nitrite
level has been high for 2 weeks no sign of nitrate dropping. Is there
Moribund plecos03 Jan 2006 22:56 GMT5
I notice I have a really high death rate of plecos.  I keep cichlids,
usually moderatley aggressive south americans, haps and peacocks.  I have
several tanks.  I try to keep at least one pleco in each tank to eat the
algae.  I have a problem though in that they are always dying ...
my tank 75 gallon03 Jan 2006 22:41 GMT2
I have a 75 ga tank and I eventually plan on putting African chichlids
in it. I think I will get my fish from http://aquariumfish.net/ .
I already have black sand 2 200 watt heaters, some plastic plants and a
large filter with 2 bio-wheels.
Minerals in the aquarium03 Jan 2006 14:53 GMT2
I have some large gemstone crystals, non-gem quality ore basically,
including flourite, amethyst, aquamarine, garnet, citrine, and topaz.  I put
the amethyst in my tank a while back and everything seems ok with it, my
girlfriend wanted to put the others in, but I was just wondering ...
