rabies, somewhat O/T16 Nov 2003 15:02 GMT6
Well since human cases of rabies were mentioned last week, I feel like I should
bring this up here...the first documented human case of raccoon strain rabies
was reported to the CDC this past week....in Northern Virginia!

Well off I go TDY again... heading out to Vegas for a week :)  Guess the
ferrets will have to deal with the girlfriend watching them (again).
Thank god she knows how to take care of them.  I don't know what I would
do without her!

How to treat a choking ferret ?14 Nov 2003 18:48 GMT10
How do you treat a ferret when it's choking?  We have just had a horrifying
experience with our Kenny who whilst out playing swallowed something,
probably a piece from an apple core, and it got stuck in his throat. We
tried gently patting him on the back and stroking his throat but ...
Vomiting Lex?? Reassurance please14 Nov 2003 10:21 GMT5
Ok.... this is as it happened.
I had the four ferrets out for an evening, as normal....  and predictably
one crawled up the side of the 6 foot cage. It turned out to be Lex, but as
I went to lift him off I felt he was heading for a sneeze. Instead of going

Sibling bond....13 Nov 2003 02:08 GMT5
Just curious really, if anyone else has sibling ferrets out there if they
have noticed the "where one goes the other must follow" phenomena?
Guaranteed... if Bronnie finds a new way to get in trouble, Lex is in
exactly the same spot 5 minutes later and vice versa (the other two just ...
ferrets getting along12 Nov 2003 13:07 GMT7
Well yesterday I got brave and let Stormy out with the other kids.  You have
to know that Stormy gets along with Kolby, but not with Zoe or George.
She's housed in another cage and gets playtime with Kolby.  Anyways, things
were going very well, and everybody was ignoring one ...
Bad Press For Ferrets Again11 Nov 2003 20:47 GMT7
This will probably lend credence
in some legislators minds to continuing
a ban on domestic ferrets in places like California.

Well, it is that time of year again to tak Wilson to get his distemper than

blockage symptoms  - how soon do they show up?11 Nov 2003 13:22 GMT2
How long does it take for blockage symptoms to occur after eating something
they shouldn't?  I ask this because I had unfortunately left my 'in-the-ear'
headphones within ferret reach.... and have lost one of the sponge covers.
This probably occurred during a short playtime this ...

Fussy Ferrets and changing their food.11 Nov 2003 00:06 GMT7
I've had my first two ferrets for a few months now and I decided to
change from one brand of dry ferret food, Marshall's Premium Ferret Diet
to a brand of dry cat food, mostly because of cost. After looking on the
wed and in newsgroups a little I settled on trying Iams Kitten Food ...
Winter coats10 Nov 2003 21:59 GMT13
My ferrets are all fat and sleek. Cold weather is upon us and even the
oldies who lost a lot of weight and looked bony a couple of weeks ago, look
plump and well now and seem to have gained  body weight. Of course this may
in part also be due to the smashing new vitalin ferret food ...
