Betta Spawning31 Jul 2003 20:20 GMT1
Is there any harm in removing the female before they are finished spawning?
I don't want 50,000 babies!  What will happen to the eggs that she hasn't
expelled?
TIA
breeding fish - some questions31 Jul 2003 15:45 GMT4
In the last couple of weeks I've bought a a mix of male and female
guppies and a pair of swordtails and kribs. The male and female
guppies were deliberately bought from different shops so as to ensure
that the male and females were not closely related.

Anyone got any ideas on a possible misidentification of whitespot here
- it's certainly confusing me - sorry for the long background, but
it's needed.

sea dragons(of the leaf variety)30 Jul 2003 11:46 GMT2
Just wondering if anyone keeps these in their aquariums. Ive been to
Chicago's and Seattle's aquariums in the past week and a half and have seen
so many of these guys that it got me wondering if anyone keeps them. Granted
they would have to be pretty much kept by themeselves but ...
Desease In Tank30 Jul 2003 07:59 GMT2
I had a tank of gourami, with an UnderGravel Filter and a sponge filter on.
In it I had a mix of pairs of dwarf gouramis. As my final pair I bought some
honey dwarf gouramis. when selecting the pair, I noticed that one of the
fish in the tank had, what I thought, was a cloudy eye. I ...
Godzilla in my tank30 Jul 2003 06:01 GMT3
This past Saturday my husband bought an apple snail for the 55g tank.
Having read up a little on them I said it would be ok in my planted
tank.  Boy was I wrong about this one...lol   Seems this one was the
variety which loves plants.  My mistake but in two days time it

Fan Tail Gold Fish and Neon tetras questions29 Jul 2003 20:50 GMT2
In my tropical tank i've got some neon tetras. One of them is swimming
with it's head facing down. Its stomach is bigger than all the other
tetras and it swims with a jurky motion. It started to do this last
night, but seemed fine this morning. Thing is it's started to do it
fish with swelling (not dropsy)29 Jul 2003 17:26 GMT9
A few weeks ago, I noticed that one of my female pearl danios had a
swelling in her belly. It looked as if she had swallowed a little ball
the size of a pea. Her behaviour was still normal (swimming around,
eating). I put her in quarantine and stopped feeding her, in case it
Cloudy eyes on Balas29 Jul 2003 15:53 GMT6
Well, getting ready to take our vacation later this week, and notice that
all my Bala's are starting to get cloudy eyes.
The largest bala, about 6", the soft tissue around the center of the eye is
sunken in, and the eye is a dull brown/off white, his other eye is just

Has anyone had any experience with cutting this? What kind of tools will I
need?

Breeding Amano Shrimp28 Jul 2003 17:47 GMT1
I bought a couple Amano shrimp for my 1 week old 15 gallon tank (seeded with
a filter from another tank).  Until the shrimp there was nothing but plants
& algae.  It's always fun trying to find them hiding in the plants, on the
side of the filter, etc.  Two days later I worried when ...
some bugger has just eaten my black molly28 Jul 2003 15:12 GMT3
Just noticed one of my black mollies had disappeared tonight and
there's not a trace of the poor bugger, all that's in the tank are
platies, a red tail shark, some small clowns and a couple of ottos
I guess he must have died sometime since last night and the others had
My fish is upside down28 Jul 2003 03:55 GMT1
My Barramundi (warm water Australian native) was found alive but upside down
last night in my tank as I forgot to turn the heater on after a tank clean.
He basically got too cold  I think and now he seems to prefer being upside
down. He can right himself and swim around ok, but he ...
