Temperature fluctuations30 Oct 2003 22:39 GMT2
Has anyone else ever had a problem with wide tank temperature fluctuations?
My tank can go from 84 during the day to 76 at night unless I try my best to
control it. I'd like to keep it 78-80 optimally with little or no
fluctuations but so far I haven't come up with anything that I ...
is there a THRILL in keeping fish?30 Oct 2003 16:07 GMT3
If you search for thrill in rec.aquaria you get some interesting
results. The thrill of owning rare breeds, the thrill of keeping
difficult varieties, the thrill of feeding live bait to carnivorous
fish, the thrill of your first cichlid breeding... I'd really like to

UGF with Large Air Bubbles29 Oct 2003 19:07 GMT4
I have a 2 1/2 gallon hex tank with a UGF.  Recently the filter has
caused large air bubbles, from beneath the filter plate.  This
happened once before (some time ago)and stopped after I moved some
gravel around.  Now it has started again.  As with the last time, I

I've picked up a Marineland Eclipse Explorer tank (claims to hold 2 US

the tank runs hot (77 F, five degrees above ambient) even though it has no
light or heater.  The pump motor housing seems to transfer ...

I have a 20 gallon fresh water tank in which I'm raising 6 Angels with the
hope of obtaining a breeding pair.  The tank is heavyly planted and I feed
the Angels 2X a day and the plants once a week after a 25% water change.
Fish and plants seem to be doing fine.
Beta Fish: How much food and how often?28 Oct 2003 16:52 GMT3
Does anyone know, how much you should feed a  Beta fish? The people at
Petco say one Beta Bite granule a day. Doesn't seem like enough.
Always unplug ballast before removing lights28 Oct 2003 16:02 GMT3
Today I had to remove the canopy of the large tank and for the first
time, I had to unplug the quick-snap connectors of the lights beforehad.
I reached under the stand and started disconnecting each of the 4

External Gestation of Livebearers.28 Oct 2003 15:32 GMT1
The molly I had that was pregnant and behaving oddly died.  When I
found her I immediately opened her up and removed the fertilized eggs
to the fry portion of my breeding cage.  Is there much hope that the
eggs will continue to develop without the mother?  Other than

A friend of mine just passed on a translucent blue-tinged crystal he

over time.
