What would you do with a 55 gal tank w/ a busted cross brace15 Oct 2003 11:22 GMT4
The movers broke the cross brace of my 55 gal tank, it snapped right
across the center.  I tried filling it up but it started to bow and
that's too much stress and water for me to deal with on the floor.  I
tried fixing it by rebracing it with a wooden dowel, now the cross

I put the 'e' in pl*co in a post on a forum somewhere. The next day, no sign
of him, and now he has been missing for 3 days. I fear the worst.... Cant

Algae eaters compatible w/brichardi cichlids15 Oct 2003 01:16 GMT3
I have a 10g tank with a pair of neolamprologus brichardi.  It's being overrun with algae due to lots of indirect sunlight.  Getting tired of scrubbing the glass.  I've tried otocinclus and panaque maccus (aka clown pleco).  The brichardi harass these two fish.  Any suggestions?  ...
Severe pop-eye on krib14 Oct 2003 23:28 GMT2
I need some help on this one.
I got a female krib, she developed pop-eye about two weeks ago, I left her
be for a week, seeing if it got worse and trying to determine the cause
before taking any action.
Leopard Ctenopoma14 Oct 2003 20:58 GMT2
Does anyone have any info on the leopard ctenopoma AKA walking perch . I
bought one (as an impulse which I don't usually do ) about 3 months ago
. It is a very interesting fish but a bit shy . He is living in a 46 gal
tank with 3 med. clown loaches and 2 very large angels . He is ...
Another Eclipse tank question14 Oct 2003 18:39 GMT1
Many thanks to the two persons who confirmed that the smaller Marineland
Eclipse tanks seem to run hotter than ambient air.
Another question:  I see bubbles formed on the biowheel when I stop it to
check it out.  Normal or not?  I don't believe my tap water is soft, and
alternatives to pet-store stands?14 Oct 2003 01:22 GMT14
Any suggestions on what to use for a stand if you don't care for the basic
wrought-iron stuff or the cheap-looking pine/walnet/"cherry" cabinets you
see in pet stores?   Sure, the latter are practical in allowing access to
equipment while shielding equipment from view.    But they ...

Marineland Explorer tank runs hot!13 Oct 2003 06:16 GMT2
I have a 2-gal Explorer tank housing a few White Clouds and Rosies, and
note that the water temp routinely is in the range of 5 to 7 degrees F
warmer than the room air temp.  Since the Explorer has NO electric light of
any kind, and no heater, I wonder where the heat is coming ...
Congratulations13 Oct 2003 04:46 GMT3
Congratulations to all.
I have been lurking on rec.scuba for a while and find that group to be
absolutely obnoxious.  Heatless attacks on unsuspecting newbies. and some
threads lasting over 250 posts just beating up anything and everything in
Help - the GOT MILK look on my tetras??12 Oct 2003 17:30 GMT17
OK, I'm trying not to panic here but 3 of my 5 brand new Colombian red-blue
tetras have neat, trim little white moustaches painted on their upper lips.
I assumed they were natural or came from scuffing their upper lips on rocks
or each other but I was reading last night about "Mouth ...
Loaches spawned?11 Oct 2003 14:10 GMT5
Went in to feed the fishes this morning and there appear to be a couple
dozen eggs (look like beads of tapioca) on the plants (Java Moss) at the
bottom of the tank. The only thing I've got a pair of (aside from neon
tetras) are loaches (probably one of the Schistura species) so ...
