Got Babies10 Oct 2003 19:23 GMT12
I just discovered 3 living fries from platies. What should I feed them and
can they live together with their parents? It looks to me that they can swim
away very fast when the big fishes are closing in. Will they be eaten/killed
by parents?
Feeding red wriggler worms to puffers and crawfish -- UPDATE10 Oct 2003 18:52 GMT1
Not for the squeamish:
I froze some last night and this morning started chopping them, then
thought "why bother?" and just snapped 'em into pieces.
Too late for the "soak them for 24 hours to pass everything in their
mormyrids medication?10 Oct 2003 14:40 GMT6
Hi again.  Is anyone on this forum in the know  about a safe fungus medicine to
treat an "Elephant nose" that has develloped tail fungus? The poor thing is
chasing his tail like a dog would a good part of the day, it has a fair
appetite when I feed it it's frozen brine shrimp & ...
Cloudy Tank10 Oct 2003 03:47 GMT7
I am new at this fish tending thing.  My tank always turns a milky white
color.  I have added bacteria, use prime to control amonia, change the
water, not changed the water.  I seems my tank never gets to cycle because I
am always starting over.  Any suggestions?  If I vacuum the ...
Feeding red wriggler worms to our fish and crawfish?10 Oct 2003 03:40 GMT6
I'm just going nuts with the questions this week, and I really
appreciate all the help I'm getting. As most of you now know, I'm the
proud owner of a blue crayfish and two Figure 8 puffers. The crayfish
is sharing a 30-gallon tank with three very large goldfish (fingers
dead tetras10 Oct 2003 02:40 GMT1
Hi i also posted a slightly different question to the
rec.aquria.freshwater.plants list, but here goes.
Yesterday my lemon tetras were alive, tonight they are dead: all three were
about two years old.  the backstory:  i have a 25 gal. community tank
Verifying: all freshwater lobsters are crawfish. Yes?09 Oct 2003 23:01 GMT13
I went to the pet store the other day to pick up some puffers (two)
for an empty ten-gallon tank and the LFS had what they called a "blue
lobster" for sale. It seemed pretty cool and I peppered the store
clerk with questions about it, eventually determining that it should
Is hardwater a problem?09 Oct 2003 11:27 GMT1
I've noticed when I test the water in my 10g tank that it always shows
up as very hard. I have a rosy barb and a gold barb currently in the
tank and they seem to be doing fine. Should I add a water softener or
just leave it as it is? I intend on adding another gold and rosy in
Live blackworms available in Austin08 Oct 2003 21:32 GMT3
I ordered 1 lb of live California blackworms on aquabid and I've realized
they're too many! If you live in Austin and would like to buy some of
these to feed your fish, I'll sell them to you at cost ($2/oz). Fish go
crazy eating these and they will not foul in your tank if left ...
Fish eats flake, spits it out08 Oct 2003 20:16 GMT8
I've noticed that my fan tail guppies try to eat flakes (Wardly Total
Tropical) but usually spit the entire flake out.  Are they actually
getting any sort of nutrition from the flake when they do this?  I do
not really see them eating anything.  The flakes are crushed up to be
Fish photography08 Oct 2003 18:02 GMT6
I'm trying to take some photos of my Africans - are there any tips or any
useful websites? Is there any way to take clear pictures without waiting for
ages for them to stay still?
TIA.
tips for breeding freshwater tropicals for the first time08 Oct 2003 17:16 GMT4
I've had some freshwater tropical fish for a about a year now, and I was
interested in breeding them. Which species do you think are the easiest to
breed; I heard it was the Zebra Danio. Can you give me some tips on how to
do it. Also how difficult is it to breed Neon Tetra's?
Fish First Aid Kit08 Oct 2003 15:01 GMT4
What basic medications should be on the shelf under the tank?
I have a wonderful 4' freshwater tank with a very happy mixture of fish and
plants.  So far no problems have arisen that require medication.  But, no
doubt they will at some time in the future.  Ignoring all the issues ...
Sick danio08 Oct 2003 04:06 GMT2
I have a Danio that has fallen ill--he is hanging on the bottom of the tank fins flailing and
gasping--he does rise to get food but otherwise is dormant. All along his spine there is a seies of
small jelly-like bumps or bubbles--about 50 of them--I am afraid I will not be able to ...
Are Fish Like Birds?!?08 Oct 2003 03:40 GMT1
This isn't a troll, an actual question...
As many people know flamigos aren't born pink/red.  They begin white and
their diet of shrimp turn them pink.
My question is does this happen for fish also?
