Is having multiple filters OK?04 Oct 2003 17:13 GMT4
Is it ok to have two filtration systems in place on the same tank?
I am planning on setting up a 45gl tank (my very first one) and I purchased
a Hagen Fluval 204 canister filter. However now I am not sure it will be
sufficient for the tank... since I think it is only rated for 30gl. ...
Clown & Khuli's Good tank mates?04 Oct 2003 10:50 GMT2

"Coolie" loach03 Oct 2003 22:45 GMT7
Can't remember whether it's kuhli or coolie, but anyways, anyone else have
these little guys?
I've had mine a few months now, quite interesting creatures. Look dead 50%
of the time until I do a waterchange, then they are the life of the tank.
Food choice for Clown Loach03 Oct 2003 15:34 GMT5
So I have two clown loaches, they have effectively taken care of my snail
problem.  But I don't have many snails at all left in my tank.  I've been
trying to feed them sinking shrimp pellets, but they don't touch them more
than just one nibble.  The other fish get em before they do. ...
Filtration for Gorby03 Oct 2003 09:11 GMT3
As you know, I got Gorby, this huge Midas... and the owner only gave me the
Whisper(hate these things) 30-60 filter, and personally, I don't like
them.... but this is another question...
it's a 75g tank, but the filter is said to be 30-60g filter... Does that
Missing Betta (Related to Post "Schooling Question and a Bully Danio)03 Oct 2003 05:05 GMT4
Okay, this is getting downright scary.  I just posted regarding the
trouble in my tank and now I have another disturbing situation.  10
gallon tank, inhabitants - 3 Leopard Danios, 2 female Bettas, Mystery
Snail and Ghost Shrimp.  The small Betta I added a couple of weeks ago
Ehfisubstrat Pro - clogging?03 Oct 2003 03:12 GMT2
Anybody knows here if ceramic filter medium like
Ehfisubstrat or similar get clogged and loses its
original huge working surface compared to bio-balls?
Does Eheim recommend replacing their ceramic over time?
Beach sand in freshwater tank?03 Oct 2003 01:47 GMT4
The local beaches have very appealing fine almost white sand.  Can I take it
home and give it a wash to get the salt out of it and put it in my
freshwater tank?
Guppies breeding question02 Oct 2003 20:02 GMT1
Do guppies care who the daddy is? Can it be a child from a previous batch???
Our male, disappeared.... found him later   :-(
Now the only male is the child, and am wondering whether to take him out or
not... If they don't care, I won't care....

I currently have a 55 gallon freshwater tank (48" long) that I am
looking to add plants to.  The lighting I have is two 40W flourescents

In order to increase my lighting I am looking to add two more 40W
moving and wondering if anyone knows of the water quality in chicago, lake view area02 Oct 2003 02:40 GMT4

Food for large tinfoils02 Oct 2003 00:46 GMT2
I have 5 4-5 inch tinfoil barbs, which for now I am feeding flake, frozen
bloodworm and, discovered on accident, small cichlid pellets. What foods can
you reccomend for these guys as they increase in size?

Nitrate Test Kit Question01 Oct 2003 23:52 GMT1
Is any one brand of nitrate test kit better than others, or doesn't it
matter?
I ask because one Australian on-line shop says that the Aquasonic kit
"measures the nitrate ion, and not the nitrate nitrogen as some kits do;
Anyone know of a light controller with a built-in timer ?01 Oct 2003 16:15 GMT2
Just about to buy lighting units for a new tank and wondered if anyone
makes one with a built-in timer. I have previously used an external
timer, but I would like to try and stagger the lights coming on and off,
and that would mean a separate timer for each light unit.
