| Flying Fox an SAE? | 12 Nov 2003 15:41 GMT | 11 |
I finally got myself a couple australian flying foxes, I knew about them earlier, thought they'd be a nice addition. They're healthy as can be, growing like weeds, very beautiful and peacful. Thought I'd dig a bit into their history, and the first few websites I came

| Help WIth Restoring A Tank | 10 Nov 2003 21:29 GMT | 2 |
I was recently given a 130g acrylic tank that was used for saltwater. It is in pretty bad shape. It needs a good cleaning and smells pretty bad. I removed the plumbing and hosed it out to remove all the loose junk. The algae and scale? are proving to be difficult to remove. I ...

| Red Tailed Black Shark Questions | 10 Nov 2003 20:38 GMT | 5 |
After asking the man in the fish shop if he could take the endless baby Bristlenose Catfish I keep ending up with he suggested I buy a Red Tailed shark who would eat the eggs. I duly bought one but on doing some research realise that I may have made a mistake and that they can be ...

Anyone keep any Emperor tetras? I am thinking about putting a few in my 150L planted with an apisto pair, 10 corys, some shrimp and 6 neons. Do they get too rowdy when they get bigger? Or should I go with the cardinal route instead?

| New tank - 2 questions | 10 Nov 2003 02:55 GMT | 1 |
I've had experience raising baby bass and northern pike (what I call "natural" fish) That I would catch from a lake in Wisconsin. I've also raised matted pairs of Angle fish. My goal was to always create a "normal" environment for the fish (natural looking plants, rocks, etc..).

| Algae and snails | 09 Nov 2003 23:35 GMT | 2 |
Maybe a dumb question. We've got a modest-sized snail (we think an apple snail, but can't guarantee it) in the betta tank, along with the betta. They get along well (ignoring one another), and the snail appears healthy. It's hard

| For a very long time! | 09 Nov 2003 16:51 GMT | 7 |
The so-called beneficial bacteria in an aquarium filter need three things: plenty of water, oxygen, and food, which is usually fish waste. If any of the three are not present for about 48 hours, the beneficial

| How long will my bacteria live if I switch off the filter ? | 09 Nov 2003 15:30 GMT | 8 |
I have a new filter maturing on my old tank. When I come to move it to my new tank, I will (obviously) need to switch it off and move it. Ideally I would like a bit of time before switching it back on as I need to work some plumbing and other bits around it before I fill the tank ...
