eclipse hex 5 too noisy14 Dec 2003 08:47 GMT3
I have a small eclipse hex 5 that makes a loud humming noise. They are supposed
to run silent. I changed the impellar and still noisy-  there is no obstruction
and it is only a couple days old. Any ideas? I called Marineland
customer svc and they say the only moving part is the ...
Using Amquel+ with ICH medication13 Dec 2003 15:59 GMT1
I am using Rid Ich as an Ich treatment.  A 25 percent water change is
recommended before each new dose of the medication.  My tap water contains
chloramines.  I verified this using a standard dechlorinator then doing an
ammonia test.  Amquel+ detoxifies the ammonia but it's label ...

Filtration question13 Dec 2003 02:40 GMT1
I just set up a 36 gal. freshwater tank with a Fluval 203.  I'd like to
augment with a Biowheel.  Any reason I need anything bigger than the Penguin
125 for this purpose?
Thanks,
Agression in Platies12 Dec 2003 20:42 GMT6
I have 2 platies in a 25G planted tank, a male and a female, both are of the
same size. The male seems to be constantly chasing the female and making her
life miserable. She runs for cover.
Cichlid vs. Cichlid12 Dec 2003 18:08 GMT1
I'm having problems with a pair of butterfly cichlids (I think- aka
purple rams?) which I recently introduced to my little fishtank (11
gal).
The tank started out with one plec (who unfortunately we had to use
Geriatric Fish - getting lethargic - help ? 12 Dec 2003 14:35 GMT8
OK... I'll be the first to admit that my fish is old. I need a
little help and I can't find anyone around here who will say
anything but "he's old". (I can accept that, but I still feel
a need to ask about care). Sorry for the long post, but hopefully

Fully Submersible Heater12 Dec 2003 10:03 GMT5
Can anyone recommend a fully submersible heater of varying wattage?
I remember having an Ebo J. in Austria which was fully submersible.  I
purchased a Hagen Thermal Compact Pre-Set heater that stated it was
submersible so I thought it meant FULLY submersible, only to discover that
Cloudy Piranha tank12 Dec 2003 04:24 GMT1
I have a 150L tank with five piranhas and two convicts. I have had them for
a month now but the water is becoming really cloudy. I have not experienced
it with my other two tropical tanks.
The tank is cleaned every day, with a 5% water change every two days.

Hello,
I know, this isn't a serious technical question.  I'm just wondering
about the ascetics of the group.

Quick question about Ebo-Jager Heaters11 Dec 2003 20:54 GMT2
I just looked at a large picture of a Ebo-Jager heater on the web, and it
had a line drawn on it with Water Level written just below the blue
adjusting top.  Does that mean that they are not fully submersible?  I
thought that you could stick these heater completely under water, but ...
Water changing question11 Dec 2003 16:05 GMT5
I'm a relative newbie to aquariums, and I'd say I'm still in the
learning phase, soaking up as much as I can.  I've read in all the
books I've found about the need for water changes, and I do about a
10% change every week (5 gals for a 40gal tank), but there are some
