Water Temperature/Sex Ratio: Mollies11 Dec 2003 14:13 GMT2
I've read that the sex ratio of some fish is greatly influenced by water
temperature.  Is this true for sailfin mollies, and if so any advice much
appreciated.  (Google didnt help much)

I currently have a 33 gallon tank that has 5 platies, 3 bronze corydoras and
either a hillstream loach or a pleco(was sold to me as Hong Kong Pleco, seen
pictures that look similar but not quite).  In the future I would like to
add ghost shrimp and/or Dwarf frogs.  My husband has ...

I bought my first tropical fish tank setup yesterday....we are currently in
the process of staining and lacquering the stand.
The tank itself is a 20 gallon (???)....measuring 30inches long, 35cm wide
and 45cm high (I think). It came with an undergravel filter, a heater.
Biological filters enclosed!11 Dec 2003 05:57 GMT3
Can  closed canister filters like some Ocean Clear
and eheim  models really act as excellent biological filters similar to a
wet/dry system given the apparent need for open oxygen/water interchange
that
blue "lobster"11 Dec 2003 03:04 GMT5
I was in the LFS the other day and saw for the first time these little
blue lobsters hanging out in one of their freshwater tanks.  Thinking
they would be an interesting addition to my tank, I did a little
research on them, but I have some specific questions I haven't found
id for arthopod-like creature?11 Dec 2003 00:25 GMT1
Something has manifested in my bucket of plants and snails, but I don't
know what it is. It's about 2-3mm long, cyndrillical-shaped, and I can
see what looks a like a short pair of legs or antennae ?  that it uses
betta holiday10 Dec 2003 22:32 GMT2
Sometime ago I asked advice on my lethargic male betta.
The heating broke, and my room (normally excessively warm) got
rather cold. So as an emergency measure I took the male out
and popped him in a breeding net in my 4ft tank, which has

Livebearer problem10 Dec 2003 19:14 GMT6
I've talked to some other people about this and they have had the same
happen.  Originally it just affected my fancy guppies(I gave up on them,

I've got a 10 gallon setup and trying to fishless cycle.  It's not doing
anything tho....no nitrites after 1.5 weeks.
I've also got a well established 5 gallon running that I want to shut
down.  I'll move everything over to the 10g.  (Please, no comments about
Brown spots10 Dec 2003 09:57 GMT1
I recently replaced the hood on my 10G tank which had incandescent
bulbs to a flourescent bulbs one. I am adding plants to my tank so I
figured I need the flourescent light. The plants seem to appreciate
this change and so does the brown algea. All of a sudden I see
