Algae eater suggestions requested05 Dec 2003 15:59 GMT3
I've got an Eclipse 3 gallon tank, which has a small to medium sized
Java Fern growing in it. The fern is doing reasonably well under the
standard lighting for this tank, but it is developing a fair amount of
unsightly algae on the older leaves.
Silver Dollars Swimming erratically05 Dec 2003 00:45 GMT2
HI - I goggled until I couldn't keep my eyes open and could not find an
answer.
I have two Silver Dollars 3" & 4" been around for over two years, I have had
them since before they were Dimes.  Not always, but at least once a week,
[Slightly OT] Aquarium filters - alternative use?04 Dec 2003 23:38 GMT5
Ello.
I was reading a book about how to survive in the event of a
modern war with either a nuclear or chemical element.
It describes gas mask filters as being a layer of filter wool,
Brine Shrimp Woes04 Dec 2003 21:51 GMT1
Ok, so I'm trying to raise a few brine shrimp for my fish to munch down on,
but it seems I'm incompetent. I've got an air stone in a glass vase filled
with 750ML of water and 2 1/4 tsp non-iodized salt with just a touch of
sodium bi-carb to nudge the PH just over middle. I've got a ...

Airstone to big?04 Dec 2003 16:18 GMT7
I have a 10 gallon tank with 4 tetras and 1 cory.  Unfortunately, I had a
swordtail that died.  Well, I went and got an air pump and airstone 6".  It
seems like a heck of a lot of bubbles.  Is the stone too big?
Thanks in advance.
Dumb Question of the Day04 Dec 2003 15:52 GMT3
Will a male betta get along in my 120G with Angels?  I thought the poor
little guy could use some exercise.
THANKS

Help - Am I going to poison my fish with the background I built ? (NetMax please read)04 Dec 2003 15:30 GMT7
[NOTE - this message covers some of what came out of the thread "How
many times should I wash out the tank before adding fish ?" currently
here. I posted this separately as I wanted to get more opinions,
especially from people who have built backgrounds like mine.]
Newbie, Q about changing water04 Dec 2003 15:30 GMT3
I'm not finding specific information on how and when to change the
water in my tank.
I had mentioned before, I have a 55G tank with 5 comet goldfish (about
1-2" each), a black moor, and a fantail (both about 4"). I also have a
Ebo Jager operation??04 Dec 2003 15:05 GMT4
I purchased a new Ebo Jager TS heater (250W, 105 gallon tank) - I've got the
heater set to bring the tank to 79.5 degrees - I'm used to seeing heaters
run (the red light stays on) until the tank is at the desired temp, then
cycle on and off as necessary - this heater is cycling on ...
Protein Skimmer Question04 Dec 2003 14:36 GMT1
I'm still new at aquatics and although I've been reading a great deal, and
learning quite a bit, I have a million questions...like this one.
I understand (basically) how a protein skimmer works. The bubbles coming up
make contact with water coming down and carries proteins out into ...
Zucchini04 Dec 2003 06:32 GMT8
I'm feeding my fish peas ans zucchini (got the idea from this newsgroup,
thefish seem to love it!) but wondered... Ih ave to boil the zucchini
(squash) to make it sink. Is there another way to get it to sink? After all,
boiling it makes it loose a fair bit of the nutrition..
Sunfish aquarium04 Dec 2003 03:21 GMT9
Looking for suggestions on the typeof setting for sunfish or bluegill
in an aquarium. What size/color of gravel to use and recommendations
on rocks, plants, wood. I'm looking for a natural looking setting.
I see these fish hanging out next to docks with no plants around,

What do the Betas do when the rice paddys are drained for planting?
How many times should I wash out the tank before adding fish ?03 Dec 2003 14:49 GMT6
Well, after months of part-time work, my new fish tank is finally ready.
I have just filled it up for the first time to check all was well.
I have built a fake rock background from painted polystyrene covered
with epoxy and was thinking that I ought to fill up the tank and empty
