| Purigen and Amquel / Novaqua / Polyaqua | 03 Dec 2003 06:30 GMT | 1 |
According to http://www.seachem.com/en_support/support_faq.html: "Only certain slime coat products will cause Purigen to become toxic; the products that do this are amine based. Prime and Safe are not amine based and so will not cause this problem. If you're curious,

Hi! Got any good locations in Chicago/Great Lakes for LFSs? I'm a relatively experienced fish keeper (fresh water) with a 70GT tank in storage. Mostly I've done goldfish (30 years of that) but swapped to guppies and other live bearing fish last time after an extended power outage

| Can tank size limit fish size? (Or why are my friends fish so small?) | 02 Dec 2003 22:59 GMT | 15 |
I am asking this question here as there are so many experienced people here that perhaps a relatively unimportant yet vexing beginner issue keeps gnawing at my brain. Firstly, two fish horror stories for comparison. (No fair slamming me as I am now on the Fish Neglector 12

| Newbie Q- Opinions on UGF AND UGH for African Cichlids | 02 Dec 2003 18:29 GMT | 3 |
This is my first posting to this learned and amiable group. I have just scored my first aquarium in over 15 years and am slowly conceptualizing what and how I want it to look and function, more importantly I have decided that African Cichlids are my ideal pets. However at this ...

OK, I've been out poking under the rocks in small streams and shallow rivers in the summer and have seen many darters. Just went out today in November and looked around and saw ZERO in three of the places I normally go.

| cycle and water problems | 02 Dec 2003 02:58 GMT | 2 |
I've set up a new 60L (15 gallon) tank, with a few fish and plants, and have been waiting about a month for it to cycle. I'm using a whisper 20-30 gallon filter with carbon and a bio sponge. I also borrowed a handful or two of gravel from the

| Coldwater, duckweed-eating fish? | 02 Dec 2003 02:55 GMT | 4 |
I'm looking for small (max ~2in) coldwater fish (mid 60's-low 70's F) that eat duckweed, but not other plants. I've only been able to find two possibilities so far: White Cloud Minnow

| Newbie with Algae Problem | 01 Dec 2003 20:52 GMT | 16 |
I am a newbie with a 10-gallon tank we've had for 4 weeks. We have 2 Corys, 2 Platys, and now 4 baby Platys that have grown enough that it looks like they won't be eaten. (We didn't plan on them. These have survived and are now in the 1/4 - 3/8" range.)

| Going home for the holidays, fishies.... not. | 01 Dec 2003 17:55 GMT | 8 |
I live on campus here at UCI and we are 'sent home' for a month during winter break when the dorms are all locked up and we have no access to our rooms. The power is turned off and we can't get in until sometime in January. Problem is, I have my fish tank in my room. It's a 15 ...

Hi, I have a 29 gallon tank. I am not a novice at this hobby, more of an intermediate. What fish does anyone here believe would be good to help the tank cycle. I would like to have some discus at some point, i dont know if that makes a difference. I was looking at some killifish.
