I have been keeping goldfish and am planning on trying some tropical fish. The goldfish are wonderful pets, interesting, forgiving (first fish have to be) though dirty. I have another small tank with a betta and 2 ADF. What I am planning is a 20 gallon tank. I love the little

| So if the Angels ar Eating My Neons | 30 Dec 2003 16:42 GMT | 8 |
So if the Angels are Eating My Neons, what can I add to my tank that will not eat the tails / fins on my angels. I really want to keep the angels, they have LONG flowing fins / appendages and are beautiful. This 120g seems so empty.

| Sources for dark gravel in Toronto, Canada? | 30 Dec 2003 15:30 GMT | 2 |
I'm still trying to figure out what to mix my fluorite with (50/50 mix ... to save money) and since dark substrates are usually considered best, I was wondering if anyone knows of a source for dark gravel in Toronto, Canada? I'm only interested in stuff that won't affect the water. ...

| Question: Is this fin rot? | 30 Dec 2003 15:06 GMT | 2 |
http://members.shaw.ca/anonomoose/fins.jpg From what I've seen of fin rot pictures online, there's usually more red or irritation involved. This just looks like bits of the fin are disappearing. Is that still fin rot? And if so, what's the best treatment?

| Yesteryear Aquarists | 30 Dec 2003 13:31 GMT | 24 |
What did Aquarists(?) do before tests for ammonia, nitrite, pH, nitrate? If they were able to do it in the past, why do all the testing now? Sorry to sound naive by questioning the necessity for the tests, but it had to have been something done by sight and general care in the past ...

| H.O.T. Magnum as Water Polisher | 30 Dec 2003 04:35 GMT | 8 |
I was at my local pet store and I was poking about when I noticed that the H.O.T. Magnum by Hagen had written on the box that it was a "dual mode" filter, either as a continuous use filter, or as a micron filter "water polisher". Does anyone own this filter, how well does it polish ...

| Difference between Aquarium Pharma. Marine and Freshwater Master Test Kits | 30 Dec 2003 00:22 GMT | 1 |
I'm just starting out in Freshwater tanks, and I'm thinking of getting one of those Master test kits from Aquarium Pharmaceuticals. The "Freshwater Master Kit" has some tests that I already have or don't need, plus it looks like it uses the Nessler method to test for Ammonia (since ...

| Water smells, How do I sanitize? | 29 Dec 2003 20:12 GMT | 2 |
It's me again, with the 55G tank. I started draining it today, to get ready for a new series of tropical fish. You'll remember that all of my goldfish died after about a month. I made some stupid mistakes that I believe killed the fish; for
