| Ammonia and water treatment question | 23 Dec 2003 21:07 GMT | 12 |
I lack the chemistry knowledge to figure this out, so I'll ask you experts :) I'm using an Aquarium Pharmaceuticals fresh water test kit, the kind that uses test tubes and drops of chemicals.

| Sideways Beta? | 23 Dec 2003 20:20 GMT | 2 |
A friend of mine (no, really) asked me to watch her Betas. The are each in 1/2 gallon containers. 2 of the 3 are sideways, one floats sideways at the top the other floats at the bottom. They respond to food and when they see each other, but beyond that they look dead.

Just a question regarding these little guys that I haven't been able to find. How many gallons is needed per frog? Just don't want to over stock my tank. Also has anyone had trouble with plecos with them, I heard sometimes they will go after the AFS. My pleco is a Striped Bulldog ...

| Plecos or loaches? | 23 Dec 2003 19:00 GMT | 2 |
I was at my LFS and they had what I thought were loaches(zipper/eye-spot or some Acanthocobitis member) but they were labeled as plecos. Are there any catfish that look like those loaches or is their supplier just giving them names for these fish?

I'm gonna be buying a tank stand (for 55G) made out of particle board covered in that fake wood looking veneer. There is also some MDF on this stand (ie: in the back, etc.). I would like to protect this stand the best I can, since I know that these materials aren't exactly ...

| Tough fish! | 23 Dec 2003 13:14 GMT | 11 |
I bought I large java fern today. The LFS put it in a bag with no water, and air to keep the plant from being crushed. I then went to do some christmas shopping, went to a restuarant for a meal, went to another LFS to pick up a tank, and then to a nursery a fair drive

| Tell me about "the water column" | 23 Dec 2003 05:15 GMT | 4 |
Why, I wonder do people use the phrase "the water column"? From what I can find on Google, "The water column consists of the total volume of water contained inside your aquarium and through your filtration loop."

| Out of town feedings | 22 Dec 2003 22:25 GMT | 3 |
I'm going to be out of town for 4 days in a couple of weeks. Is that too long for my fish to go without being fed? I'd rather not have the neighbor kids feeding the fish. If that's too long, is that slow feeding stuff I see in the LFS ok to leave them with?
