green dots on my annubis16 Dec 2003 17:45 GMT1
recently i got an annubis plant for my 10G warm-water tank.  it's
seems fine but now has small, dark green dots all over it.  i put in a
crypto at the same time that is doing find and doesn't have the dots
on it.  i figure if it was algae it would be on both plants.  curious.
room mate for my betta?16 Dec 2003 15:31 GMT7
I got my first aquarium recently and I put a male betta with a couple
of (supposedly) peaceful fish (no other male bettas).  My betta ended
up picking several fights with various fish until a red-eyed tetra
gave him a couple of good bites.  Then he proceeded to attack a

odd betta fish16 Dec 2003 00:48 GMT8
I have 3 betta fish. One's definitely male - he's long finned. One's
got a definite white spot between her tummy fins, and a very round
belly, so I'm fairly sure she's female. The third..I'm not sure.  It's
got short fins like the female., but flares gill covers and has a
DIY Wet Dry Filter16 Dec 2003 00:13 GMT5
I Goooooogled my brains out and hard a hard time finding any info from the
21st Century.  I know the idea is still the same, but most of the articles I
found were text with little or NO pictures.  I am capable of reading, and
understanding the mechanics of the process, but some ...

Driftwood Questions15 Dec 2003 22:21 GMT2
I just bought two pieces of driftwood off of ebay and they are sun bleached,
freshwater, dried, hand cleaned (no dirt chunks), and nature cured.  The
seller is in Golden, BC so I assume that they are either river or lake
driftwood.  Is there any thing I should worry about with them ...
Manufactured Stone?15 Dec 2003 21:14 GMT4
What is the general consensus on "Manufactured" or "Cultured" stone for
large aquarium backgrounds & deco?  I want to do a background with a layered
limestone or sandstone effect with shelves and ledges.

FYI - Never buy a trigger start ballast15 Dec 2003 17:57 GMT5
My little 10g hood went together just great, but I made a big mistake... I
got a trigger start ballast, which will come on with a simple plug in, but
when put on a timer, it won't ignite....  Come to find out there IS a
difference between trigger start and electronic ballast, but ...
Angel Fish PH pref?15 Dec 2003 03:43 GMT1
Is there a PH preference for Angel fish?
I have a tank of Angels and one for Neons and both are at 7.0.
I was wondering if these should be different for the different fish.
Any help is appreciated.
Type of ballast in All-Glass hoods15 Dec 2003 01:28 GMT3
I was wondering if anyone knows any information about the type of ballast
that All-Glass puts in their deluxe hoods.  I'm especially interested in the
48*12 hoods (made for 55G) since I'm thinking of buying one of these and
adding more light to it.  However, depending on the type of ...
Filter advice needed! Penguin 125 isn't doing the job.14 Dec 2003 18:01 GMT22
I've had a Penguin 125 filter for about 9 months. It came with my new 20
gallon aquarium. The bio-wheel barely turns these days. I've taken it out,
cleaned it, tried straightening the little paper folds (so the water pushes
it better), but it still barely turns. Now some threads, or ...
Sick Fish14 Dec 2003 16:43 GMT1
My largest Rainbow fish is acting oddly.  Below are a list of his
ailments:
1. A wobble in the swim - not so extreme that he's going belly up, but
it's there...
Is what my LFS tells me about setting up a 20 gallon african cichlid aquarium true?14 Dec 2003 15:47 GMT3
I just set up my first 20 gallon african cichlid aquarium with the
assistance of my LFS owner.  I have a 20 gal that has cycled for 3

substrate is natural, pebble-size stones and I've added sevel pieces
