| Update on Betta (good news), Q on Decorations | 06 Jan 2004 14:37 GMT | 5 |
I really appreciate all of the help you've been over the last several weeks. My betta is still doing well, but he's still alone. I've been keeping an eye on the parameters, though, and I'm planning to bring in some small tetras in a few days.

| RO Water | 06 Jan 2004 03:30 GMT | 2 |
Is it a good idea in a planted tank or any freshwater tank to use R/O water if one has access to it? I know for a marine tank it is recommended but what about freshwater? Thanks

| Will water filter lower pH | 06 Jan 2004 03:02 GMT | 6 |
If I bought the Aquarium Pharmaceuticals water filter would it lower my tap water's pH or simply the hardness. The pH of my tap is arround 8.0 -8.2 after you let it aerate for a few hours. It tests arround 7.2 right out of the tap.

| PetsMart Trip Summary - My new community tank | 06 Jan 2004 02:28 GMT | 7 |
Thanks to all who responded to me about PetsMart and their fish section. I suppose it was common sense that each store would be different depending on employees, and management. Anyways, less than an hour ago, I just arrived home from PetsMart, after

| Guppy having fry over period of 24 days | 06 Jan 2004 01:09 GMT | 4 |
We purchased a guppy a few weeks ago. On December 1st the lone guppy (in a 12 gallon tank) started having fry. In a period of a day or so, she had at least 67 that survived. We moved the fry to another tank then moved the mother guppy to a holding tank while I removed all the water ...

| Tiger Barbs and Angelfish | 06 Jan 2004 00:27 GMT | 7 |
Just about everywhere I read says not to put Tiger Barbs with Angelfish (which should give me a clue, eh?). I'd really like to get some Tiger Barbs, though, and I was wondering the following. I saw some 1" Tigers in the LFS, smaller than the usual lot they sell. I

| Desert rocks in my aquarium | 05 Jan 2004 16:07 GMT | 4 |
On a recent trip to Arizona, I wandered the desert area across the street from my mother-in-law's house looking for rocks. I found what looked like an old river bank (looked dry for a long time) that had lots of river rocks. Are these ok in my aquarium? I assume any

| PetsMart tanks | 05 Jan 2004 04:10 GMT | 7 |
Are the TopFin tanks sold at PetsMart made by All-Glass? I saw a curved corner tank wearing the Top Fin label, though I know it was an AGA design (originally, at least). B

| NetMax: From Standpipe discussion | 04 Jan 2004 14:50 GMT | 1 |
<<snip and snip again see bottom>> Filtration would be by canister filter. Inside the tank, (before anything is put in), place a UGF plate in the far-end, and connect a horizontal run of pipe from the UGF plate to the wall-end. This plate

| Bamboo Shrimp | 03 Jan 2004 23:46 GMT | 2 |
What are Bamboo Shrimp? Are they similar to Ghost Shrimp except for not transparent? I saw some in the LFS the other day and they looked kinda neat. I haven't been able to find much if any information on them in my usual sources. Are they an ok match for a freshwater

| Nitrites won't go down. | 03 Jan 2004 22:40 GMT | 4 |
Have a 10 gallon tank for about a month. Ammonia spiked and lingered for 2 weeks, then nitrites spiked, ammonia went down 4 days after that. And now my nitrites continue to be high with no signs of going down. I mean off the charts. I've been doing small water changes to ease ...
