Update on Betta (good news), Q on Decorations06 Jan 2004 14:37 GMT5
I really appreciate all of the help you've been over the last several
weeks. My betta is still doing well, but he's still alone. I've been
keeping an eye on the parameters, though, and I'm planning to bring in
some small tetras in a few days.
RO Water06 Jan 2004 03:30 GMT2
Is it a good idea in a planted tank or any freshwater tank to use R/O water
if one has access to it?  I know for a marine tank it is recommended but
what about freshwater?
Thanks
Will water filter lower pH06 Jan 2004 03:02 GMT6
If I bought the Aquarium Pharmaceuticals water filter would it lower my
tap water's pH or simply the hardness.  The pH of my tap is arround 8.0 -8.2
after you let it aerate for a few hours.  It tests arround 7.2 right out of
the tap.
PetsMart Trip Summary - My new community tank06 Jan 2004 02:28 GMT7
Thanks to all who responded to me about PetsMart and their fish section.  I
suppose it was common sense that each store would be different depending on
employees, and management.
Anyways, less than an hour ago, I just arrived home from PetsMart, after
Guppy having fry over period of 24 days06 Jan 2004 01:09 GMT4
We purchased a guppy a few weeks ago. On December 1st the lone guppy (in a
12 gallon tank) started having fry.  In a period of a day or so, she had at
least 67 that survived. We moved the fry to another tank then moved the
mother guppy to a holding tank while I removed all the water ...
Tiger Barbs and Angelfish06 Jan 2004 00:27 GMT7
Just about everywhere I read says not to put Tiger Barbs with
Angelfish (which should give me a clue, eh?).  I'd really like to get
some Tiger Barbs, though, and I was wondering the following.  I saw
some 1" Tigers in the LFS, smaller than the usual lot they sell.  I
UV Sterilizer05 Jan 2004 23:28 GMT8
Got myself a new toy, bit confused as to the flow charts.

Desert rocks in my aquarium05 Jan 2004 16:07 GMT4
On a recent trip to Arizona, I wandered the desert area across the
street from my mother-in-law's house looking for rocks.  I found what
looked like an old river bank (looked dry for a long time) that had
lots of river rocks.  Are these ok in my aquarium?  I assume any
seeking your opinion05 Jan 2004 15:15 GMT5
I have recently opened an aquarium supply store at www.whalesale.com and I
am seeking your opinions.
Please let me know what you think on the setup of the store, prices, the
products currently carried, and what products I should add to the store
PetsMart tanks05 Jan 2004 04:10 GMT7
Are the TopFin tanks sold at PetsMart made by All-Glass? I saw a curved
corner tank wearing the Top Fin label, though I know it was an AGA
design (originally, at least).

65 gallon Filter Suggestions04 Jan 2004 17:43 GMT11
Happy New Years Eve Everyone!
I've just become the proud new owner of a 65 Gallon Aquarium and I
wondered what others might be using for filtration with good success.  I
have a 55 Gallon using an Aquaclear 300, but Ive heard alot of horror
NetMax: From Standpipe discussion04 Jan 2004 14:50 GMT1
<<snip and snip again see bottom>>
Filtration would be by canister filter.  Inside the tank, (before
anything is put in), place a UGF plate in the far-end, and connect a
horizontal run of pipe from the UGF plate to the wall-end.  This plate
[newb] Good site for pics of fish04 Jan 2004 07:05 GMT1
Hey, I am researching and looking to start an aquarium, I want it to be a
"social: tank with a couple or maybe 3 types of fish, preferably one small
school, a couple bigger, prettier fish, and a pretty algea eater, like a
zebra pleco....any good sites with pictures and fish ...
Bamboo Shrimp03 Jan 2004 23:46 GMT2
What are Bamboo Shrimp?  Are they similar to Ghost Shrimp except for
not transparent?  I saw some in the LFS the other day and they looked
kinda neat.  I haven't been able to find much if any information on
them in my usual sources.  Are they an ok match for a freshwater
Nitrites won't go down.03 Jan 2004 22:40 GMT4
Have a 10 gallon tank for about a month.  Ammonia spiked and lingered for 2
weeks, then nitrites spiked, ammonia went down 4 days after that.  And now
my nitrites continue to be high with no signs of going down.  I mean off the
charts.  I've been doing small water changes to ease ...
