| Goldfish dead (not a newbie!) | 03 Jan 2004 22:38 GMT | 10 |
I've been keeping tropical fish for years now, and my tanks have always been stable and healthy, but recently I've had a problem. I got a 10 gal tank as a gift a few months ago and decided to get a pair of fancy goldfish (a red cap oranda and a black moor).

| Newbie -all readings high | 03 Jan 2004 21:14 GMT | 4 |
I have a 37 gal Oceanic that is 11 days old. Long story short, day one I put in chlorine treated and stress coated water, 2 live plants, a tiny snail, 2 small decorations and some decorative 'river' glass, and 3 smallish tiger barbs that I had gotten at Wal-Mart and nearly ...

| Fungus, Fungus, Fungus | 03 Jan 2004 02:41 GMT | 3 |
My tank's curse continues, I'm afraid. One of my molly's appears to have a fungus film on him that is white and fluffy. I saw remnants on my female molly as well - but hers was worse before and is getting better.

| GloFish | 02 Jan 2004 06:01 GMT | 6 |
So I was out helping my sister get things for her tank and what did we see at the Petland Discounts in Queens but the GloFish. They were $4.88 each, 2 for $8.50. They weren't as glowie as in the pictures but they weren't under a black

| Moving the corydoras | 02 Jan 2004 03:19 GMT | 4 |
I have 2 corydoras with my common GF and shubunkin. I've been advised that this was possibly a little silly. The tank is getting a bit too small for the GF and I'm considering moving them. I have a spare 6g tank to house them in. I've put in a heater (which is

| Corydoras | 02 Jan 2004 00:38 GMT | 1 |
I'm a bit concerned about the state of my Corydoras (4 x Bronze Catfish and 6 x Virginae) in a 400 litre aquarium. When first introduced they were all extremely active - dive bombing together - rocketing to the surface followed by kamikaze strikes to the

| Compatibility of Snails | 01 Jan 2004 22:55 GMT | 1 |
I currently have a large Mystery snail in my 10 gallon community tank. Can I add a small Ramshorn to the tank as well? I have only had Mystery snails and am not sure if they would get along, but don't see why not. I also believe they are both hermaphrodites so do not see

| Recommendation for chlorine/chloramine remover? | 01 Jan 2004 21:48 GMT | 10 |
Could someone recommend a good chlorine/chloramine remover to get, that works good, and is cheap in the long run? I'm thinking I'm gonna stick with a product that just removes the chlorine/chloramine/ammonia and nothing else (ie: no slime coat stuff, etc.). Which means I'm trying ...

| Newbie - Angel eggs | 01 Jan 2004 20:58 GMT | 6 |
Hi _ Apologies if this sounds so naive - my Angels have laid eggs on a broad leave plant and are chasing other fish away - can I cut off the leave and drop it into another aquarium and expect the eggs to hatch? TIA - Dave

| Help Please: Corys Scratching Skin Off | 01 Jan 2004 20:46 GMT | 4 |
The 4 albino corys in my community tank are scratching the skin off their bellies, to the point where their undersides are quite red. Close examination shows they are suffering considerable skin loss. I noticed one was much pinker on the underside a while ago, and it has gradually

| Is the Hagen Fish Net Breeding Trap made of steel or plastic? | 01 Jan 2004 06:32 GMT | 1 |
Does anyone know if the Hagen Fish Net Breeding Trap is made of steel or plastic? The picture online makes it look like the frame is made of steel, however, it could just be gray plastic. Thanks,

| PETSMART fish - FOLLOW-UP question | 01 Jan 2004 05:28 GMT | 7 |
I forgot to ask in the first e-mail whether anyone knew of decent online plant stores where I can buy assorted plants for a good price. Plants seem to be pricey in stores. Thanks - Shawn

| Software for Aquariums | 01 Jan 2004 01:39 GMT | 1 |
As a recent beginner into the world of Fishkeeping (Freshwater Tropical), could anyone suggest any good software to help maintain my tank, etc. I'm currently trying out Aquarix. Are there any other software packages I should try?

| New Tank pH questions | 01 Jan 2004 00:23 GMT | 5 |
I have a few questions....I've read through the FAQ and think I have some answers (and some I suspected anyway), but just to be sure... I purchased my kids a 5 gallon hex tank for Christmas. Yes, I know it's waaaay to small, but so are the kids and I just wanted to get them ...

| PETSMART fish - pricey ? healthy ? | 01 Jan 2004 00:18 GMT | 5 |
I recently lost a complete 55gal aquarium of Malawi cichlids and now I'm thinking of switching over to a planted community tank for a while. Due to a recent disagreement with the owner of the local pet shop, I'm no longer patronizing his store and so I'm looking for another place ...
