biospira question29 Feb 2004 16:42 GMT22
I just today got my biospira, and I was a bit surprised about the brief
directions.  It basically just says add to water, then add fish the next
day.  I added 2 oz. to my tank tonight at ~8pm.
So... the questions that I still have are:
Japonica breeding habits29 Feb 2004 06:18 GMT4
Anyone know anything about the breeding habits of Amano shrimp?  While
looking at my tank this afternoon, my attention was drawn to some movement
on my Nutrafin CO2 bubble counter and I noticed a small, 1/4" long shrimp.
None of the 10 shrimp that I've purchased over the last ...
Young Platy28 Feb 2004 17:51 GMT2
I've just noticed a new-born Platy in my aquarium - The oldest Platys that I
have in this tank are 3.5 months old. Given the age, is this too young for
Platys to give birth?
TIA - Dave
Cardinal Tetra source28 Feb 2004 06:09 GMT4
I made the rounds of the local pet shops over the last week.
None carried Cardinal Tetras nor had any interest in ordering them for
me.  I'm looking to buy something on the order of 75-100.
Have the people here had any luck purchasing Cardinal Tetra by
quarantining SAEs27 Feb 2004 19:59 GMT2
I have 4 small (3cm) SAEs undergoing quarantine; I'm not adding fish
food but I added two coconut shells completely covered with filamentous
algae to the quarantine tank;
during the first week I could see lots of poop so I assumed they were in
Cyanobacteria Treatment Update27 Feb 2004 18:11 GMT14
For those of you playing along at home, here's an update to my
cyanobacteria problems.
In a nutshell, I had a huge problem with algae in my 55 gallon
freshwater tank.  Upon posting some pictures, usenet readers
nitrite spike, no ammonia!27 Feb 2004 16:37 GMT4
Let me preface this by saying I'm a newbie and seem to be falling into
every newbie trap there is.
I fishlessly cycled my tank over a week ago...it took a week for
anything to happen, but over 5ppm ammonia (bottled ammonia) eventually
Water goes bad... FAST27 Feb 2004 15:28 GMT19
Have a ten gallon fresh water tank.
Just got it.. A real newbie..
Two days later the water is murkey and smelly.
What am I doing wrong?
Solo Fish27 Feb 2004 15:22 GMT1
May I have a suggestion on what type of fish I can keep in my 27 gallon tank
that's happy by itself. One that can get upto 6 inches.
my swimming snail27 Feb 2004 15:07 GMT1
strangest thing i've ever seen. he was one of those hitchhikers that stows away
on plants you get at the LFS. he kinda hung around and hasn't multiplied
(strangely enough). he's about the size of a nickel now (slightly less than 2
cm.) with a shell that spirals around upon itself, ...
used slate27 Feb 2004 14:14 GMT10
I have some used slate which I wish to use in the tank...
... it's been on my roof 100 years!
I've scrubbed off the dirt and lichen (not that it looked too
bad) and have a pan of water boiling ready to boil it for ten

terrified--and 1 missing--fish!!!!!27 Feb 2004 04:53 GMT18
What on earth happened?
I cycled my 12g Neon Cube tank, and yesterday introduced 5 small
golden barbs and 3 otocincli. The otos quickly went to task on the
brown algae that had been growing in my tank; slowly and patiently
how to keep bubble-disk from floating?26 Feb 2004 23:48 GMT1
I bought this bubble-disk (Penn-Plax 3" small Deluxe Bubble-Disk)
which has no suction cup or any way of adhering to the side/bottom of
my tank. It is lighter than water so floats naturally, which is
annoying.
Rick - Cory eggs26 Feb 2004 21:23 GMT12
Rick, thanks for your help on the cories, they've continued to lay eggs
about every 4 days now....  it seems that they are pushed into spreading
eggs when water is changed, and I'm still unable to tell if I have 1M or
2M... total of 3... but one is VERY much bigger... I'm hoping ...
