I have a 55 gallon planted tank with 12 Brilliant Rasboras, 7 Endlers
Livebearers, 2 Dwarf Gourami's, 4 Oto's, and 2 Whiptail Cat's.  It's been
cycled about a month and I am slowly adding fish.  I just added 4 more
Brilliant Rasboras to the tank, and my other 8 seem much happier now ...

Review of Fish Choices for a 48 gallon tank16 Feb 2004 22:18 GMT4
I have a 48 gallon tank that is now mid cycle with fish that I will be
returning to my LFS.  I have been planning what I want to eventually
add to the tank (not all at once of course).  I would really like
schooling fish and active fish.  At one point,  I thought I would get
Test Kits Do Not Agree16 Feb 2004 21:23 GMT3
I switched to a Hagen Nutrafin test kit with several different tests
in the same kit.  It has a test for NO3 which I used to cover using a
Tetra test kit.
I ran tests for NO3 using both kits on samples from the same body of
Is this milky water a bacterial bloom ?16 Feb 2004 19:19 GMT14
I just set up a new tank, 220 litre, going to be a cichlid tank. Our
water is soft and neutral out of the tap.
Due to previous woes with my first attempt at a fake rock background
(see http://fish.alansilver.co.uk/Mark3/bg5.asp for more details), I

Cracked tank? What to do?16 Feb 2004 14:57 GMT11
I have a 20 gallon tank--I noticed today what looks like a 2-3 inch vertical crack near the bottom
of the front panel. It feels like a crack becasue when I ran my fingernail along it it got caught on
the vertical line. What should I do about this? I have marked it to see if it ...
I think it's a fungus; how do I get rid of it?16 Feb 2004 07:13 GMT1
This is my first tank (37g high), and it is only been 2 months, but the
water is okay (sample to my LFS confirmed my test kit).  I get a white sort
of hairy growth on the bottom and a bit on the plants.  Sometimes I get
clumps of white hairy balls that look almost like dandelion ...
background question / color16 Feb 2004 07:05 GMT1
I am considering painting my new 54 gallon corner/bowed tanks rear glass,
and my question is any recommendations on colors, including black. Someone
told me certain colors have a soothing effect on fish , such as green due to
it's being common in most environments. I appreciate any ...

Standpipe or something else?16 Feb 2004 04:11 GMT6
Building a new home and I will have a 6 foot long tank in it. Probably a
125G but possibly a 150G. The tank will sit with one short end on
the wall leaving both long sides and one short side open. I have imagined
this for a long time but it's time to stop daydreaming and start doing ...
Hobby Ethics16 Feb 2004 04:07 GMT44
I live in a state where many fresh water plants are illegal, e.g.
Anacharis and milfoil.  There are also several species of aquatic
animals that are illegal, e.g. ghost shrimp, fresh water snails, and
killifish (a HUGE fine if your caught with killies).

Kuhli Loaches and snails16 Feb 2004 00:21 GMT1
Will they eat snails?  I have some other loaches(sold to me as zebra, but
have a lot wider bands) that do, but they are a little aggressive towards
fry and need to be moved.
