injured or Sick Zebra Danio15 Feb 2004 22:42 GMT1
got an injured Zebra Danio in my tank. He has gone from the same size as the
other Danios, to being a simlair size to a neon tetra.  Shortly after I got
him, I noticed that he was a little "bent" along his body, this has become
more pronouced as time has gone on.  None of the other ...

Pleco not doing its job!!!15 Feb 2004 22:36 GMT3
All I can find here in Connecticut for algae eaters are plecos.  Well, I
have the brown stuff on my substrate and plastic plants.  I thought the
Pleco would eat it up, but hasn't touched it.  I'm green algae free, but
don't know what to do, now.  Anyone in CT know where I can find ...
Fungus and UV15 Feb 2004 21:54 GMT1
Where on the scale is fungus for treatment in terms of UV sterilization? For
instance is it hard to kill like parasites and require more exposure, or at
the lower end such as bacteria? My scale doesn't have fungus on it.
Cheers
Cyanobacteria Treatment15 Feb 2004 21:31 GMT5
I posted a couple of weeks ago about a problem with algae in my
aquarium.  (Search for "Algae ruining hobby for me" in
rec.aquaria.freshwater.misc). After posting a picture, respondents
identified it not as algae, but as cyanobacteria.
How do I keep a mature filter alive in a fishless tank ?15 Feb 2004 17:19 GMT5
Well, having had various setbacks, I finally got our new tank ready for
action. I had the filter (Eheim Ecco 2235) plugged into the old tank for
a couple of months, so it has a mature bacteria colony.
On Monday night, I switched the filter over to the new tank, ready for a
Filters15 Feb 2004 15:55 GMT17
I am planning to get a new filter for my 30G tank.
I would like to know what is in your experience the mos efficient.
I was reading about Fluval 404, and i heard it is very complicated at the
time to clean it....
What does 'gasping at surface' look like?15 Feb 2004 07:16 GMT1
I have a relatively new 120g with (for the first time) CO2 injection.
We're not putting in a huge amount of CO2 (1-2 bubbles/sec).  The PH is
pretty low (6ish), due mostly to a large piece of new driftwood (I
think).  The filter is an Eheim 2128.  There's a lot of plants in the ...
High ammonia in tank/tap water......with Bio Spira15 Feb 2004 02:17 GMT11
I decided to do fishless cycling to prepare my 12gal tank for my 5
gold barbs (they're not in there yet! just some plants). Used a
Wardley test set to determine the NH3 levels.
Obviously the reagents were old or otherwise ineffective--no matter
axolotl treatment14 Feb 2004 16:11 GMT5
Ello,
Can I use the same treatment on axolotls that I would on tropicals?
I've got three in a 30 inch tank and noticed that one has a small
amount of slime or something on his leg. I think it was that way
Aquarium Software14 Feb 2004 15:02 GMT6
Any body have a good suggestion for Aquarium Software?
I don't have much money and I don't know enough about aquariums yet to write
my own. So I would like your advice as to what software is out there. I
found a couple, but, the effectiviness of the web pages may not reflect the
Q on feeding blackworms to Dwarf Frogs.14 Feb 2004 04:35 GMT2
I bought 1/4 cup of live blackworms from my LFS recently.   Can I put them
all in at once, or is there a danger of the frogs overeating?
(The LFS owner, a well reputed fellow, told me I could put them all in at
once, without presenting a danger to the froggies - I'm not sure how ...
Effect of too many fish14 Feb 2004 00:37 GMT19
Comments invited.  Do I have this right?
I am "often" forced to have too many fish in a tank for a while.
When you add a heap of fish, the ammonia level increases.  Most fish are
quite tolerant of high levels of amonia, while others drop dead quickly.
Coliform Contamination13 Feb 2004 03:54 GMT2
Got a phone call today from the Water Authority - our well water
is contaminated with coliform bacteria.  It's easy enough to handle my
consumption - I stop, or boil it first.
Searching google didn't really come up with any articles about
guppies -- several questions13 Feb 2004 03:43 GMT5
Several questions about guppies:
1.
I've been told that it's better to have at least 2 male guppies and
several females.  Why?  Is this for breeding purposes, or for
