I have babies :-)22 Apr 2004 03:00 GMT3
An angelfish pair have been spawning frequently in my community tank but
seem to be learning as they go.  I got them both as small juveniles
but had a hunch they were a male/female - I'm no expert but they just
seemed slightly different so I went with that - and I now have ...
stress coat useful?22 Apr 2004 00:58 GMT9
I have to do a gravel vac & adjust a plant some time this week.  I know
that the advertising suggests that any time that you do something like
this you should add stress coat, but I'm wondering what the r.a.f. wisdom
is on this -- is stress coat as beneficial as it purports to be?  ...

I have discovered a parasite on some of my fish. It is visisible on the side
of a couple of my fish.
It looks like a small white tube about 1-2mm long and 1/2 - 1 mm in
diamater, sticking out of the body of the fish. like the tip of a worm
Neon Tetras won't eat21 Apr 2004 19:28 GMT10
I had posted about 5 months ago about my first fish: several goldfish
and a betta. Although you might remember that all of my goldfish died,
my betta is still living well and strong! He's in a 10G tank, all by
himself, with a few artificial plants.

It took a day or two, but he quickly raced through it all.  Now, I've
developed a green algae outbreak and he does not seem to have nay

hagen nitrate and nitrite test kits?20 Apr 2004 21:01 GMT3
Hi
I have a hagen nitrate test kit with three reagents.
I also had the nitrite test kit with 2 reagents.
When using these tests the first two reagents in each test kit seemed to
Anyone notice a prob with Blue Rams?20 Apr 2004 17:47 GMT7
Hey there fishy folks.
I was wondering if other hobbyists and store keepers have noticed anything
going on with Blue Rams?
If I can even find them, as MANY shops are passing on them as they "look bad",
Why is my pleco a pussy?20 Apr 2004 17:47 GMT7
My pleco is *very* shy.  In fact, I've hardly seen him since I bought him 8
months ago.    He's about 1.5 inches long, and hasn't grown much.    I was
told to buy him a little house in order to increase comfort, but now he just
spends all of his time in his semi-enclosed house.

Newbie's Tiger Barb has a split fin.20 Apr 2004 13:17 GMT4
Thanks in advance; I have so much to learn!
One of my green tiger barbs, lets call her Sparkle, has a fin that seems to
be split into 3 or 4 separate pieces.  It is one of the two on the very
bottom, the ones that are either red or black depending on the fish.  I

Snails - Again!20 Apr 2004 03:40 GMT4
I have a 400litre aquarium with a variety of tropical fish including 5 clown
loaches. The loaches were bought on the advise of my LFS to get rid of the
snails and they eat everything except! I'm not too keen on using chemicals.
Any ideas?

lost angelfish19 Apr 2004 18:57 GMT1
I had a pair of angelfish only 2 1/2 years old in a 46 gallon tank, and
unfortunately lost one last week (male). they were both about 6 inches in
length and seemed very healthy. all my water parameters were all in check. I
perform 25% weekly water changes and feed them twice a day. ...
Serpae Tetras19 Apr 2004 18:05 GMT16
I added 5 Serpae Tetras to my 33gl tank having read that they were hardy and
mostly peacful and I thought they'd make a nice change to the usual Neons.
The other occupants - 4 Corys - seem to be having a hard time of it though.
I've noticed bits missing from their fins and have ...
