Residual odor from bleach16 Apr 2004 17:16 GMT11
I had a bad case of black/dark green algae growth and soaked the plastic
plants in bleach, then rinsed and rinsed, ETC.  But I am concerned because
there is a slight odor of bleach still remaining.
An 'expert' from Petco said that plastic plants absorb some of the bleach
Preventive Maintenance16 Apr 2004 17:02 GMT7
I have a 55 gallon community tank and my LFS suggests that I add 30-40 drops
per week of AQURI-SOL to prevent disease, etc. Is this a common practice?
Miniature tanks?16 Apr 2004 15:59 GMT2
Does anyone remeber the site that sold "fishtanks" that were so small the
fish could barely move in them?
I remember there was a list people signed to get them to stop selling them,
but I never heard the outcome. Does anyone remeber?
moving house16 Apr 2004 10:17 GMT3
I've already posted this in URAM, so I apologise if you've already seen it.
I am looking for some advice on moving house.
I currently have a 350L tank with an assortment of Discus, Clown Loaches,
Plec, etc.
Any recommendations for Charlotte, NC LFS or hobby groups?15 Apr 2004 13:48 GMT7
I've been to almost all of the stores in the Charlotte metro region and can
never get the same advice.  Where do friendly folks with freshwater
aquariums hang out, besides this newsgroup?
Thanks,
Ick and pl*co15 Apr 2004 03:25 GMT24
I have been treating my tank for 2 weeks (Ick). All teh fishes are now clear
out but my pl*co still covered in ick. I was planning to do a big water
change tomorrow and stop medicating the tank.....I had just a decesed fish
(tetra neon) all the rest seems to be just fine. I am not ...

Ping Netmax15 Apr 2004 01:57 GMT3
If I remember correctly, you were looking for a sealer of sorts.
I ran across an ad for these folks in a magazine today.

Algae?14 Apr 2004 17:08 GMT4
I have what I presumed at first was hair algae in my tank but having done
some reading up it doesn't appear to fit the description. It is a dark
blueish green colour and appears more structured than one would expect algae
to be - seems to have a central stem with branches coming off ...
always swimming up14 Apr 2004 04:03 GMT20
One of my two lamp eye tetras is doing something odd.  It just constantly
swims up.  If he stops swimming he sinks like a rock, but it never stops
swimming straight up long enough to sink all the way to the bottom to just
lay/rest there.  It's like he's swimming head first into a ...
Can you have too soft water?14 Apr 2004 02:17 GMT8
I recently did a water change in a tank, where I changed about 1/3 of
the water with laboratory grade RO/DI water.
We're talking water with a conductivity of less than 1 µS/cm, perhaps
1/20th of the conductivity of a hobbyist grade RO/DI unit. Basically
nitrate levels14 Apr 2004 02:08 GMT9
I have a 55g with about 12 plants and 30-40 inches of fish with very
little algae growth. All seemed well until the last few weeks. my ammonia
and nitrite are 0, but my nitrate is thru the roof ( between 300 and 400). I
did a %50 water change 3 days in a row with almost no ...
Cycling problems?13 Apr 2004 23:02 GMT4
I have been trying to cycle my tank for a while now (currently at day 16). I
have two platys and a betta in there, high ammonia levels, and nothing else.
PH is around 8.0, temp is regulated at 78 degrees, ammonia's been between
1.0 and 2.0 the entire time (high, but I can't get it ...
Tinfoil barbs in Lake Malawi13 Apr 2004 19:52 GMT1
My local public aquarium has a large Lake Malawi display.
As well as having some Neolamprologus and Julidochromis
they also had Tinfoil barbs. An information panel said that
Tinfoil barbs were found in Lake Malawi and surrounding
Found Nemo?13 Apr 2004 16:07 GMT6
So I've just been going through my usual cleaning routine on my cold water
tank - water change, using the extracted water to rinse the filter media
with.  As usual, left the (internal) filter motor churning away while I did
the rinsing.
