I got more babies... ---> Kribs, not guppies17 May 2004 17:07 GMT1
I went to re-arrange a clump of java moss in the 10g proven breeder tank
with Kribs, and it's got a breeder net with 6 remaining survivors... when
out of the blue, the male and female start biting me all over the thumb,
hand and fingers... I yanked my hand out knowing somewhere in ...
Carbon filter media17 May 2004 15:08 GMT4
How necessary and effective is carbon filter media in freshwater aquariums
and what exactly does it remove that are harmful to fish?  I've heard some
folks say its absolutely useless unless you want to remove medication.
Marineland's website states carbon removes tannins and phenols ...
Hatching Artemia the easy way...17 May 2004 02:31 GMT1
After several times having answered questions about how to hatch
artemia, I made a webpage about it, so I could just refer to that
instead. I didn't think much of it, but it's been so well received
that I thought I should post a link to it here too, as someone might
My Red Fish is Sick - I Think He is Dying!17 May 2004 01:26 GMT7
My betta fish called "Red Fish" is really sick.  Everything was fine,
he has been a great pet for a year now, but this afternoon he started
going crazy and trying to jump out of his big huge tank.  Then after
that he can only swim upside down or sideways.  I think his poor swim
tankmates for L04616 May 2004 23:27 GMT7
I've got a tank with a group of L046, Zebra pleco. I've been wondering of
there's a fish, a choolong fish perhaps, that would be safe to keep in the
tank considering I'm hoping the Zebras will breed.
It will have to be a fish that will leave eggs and fry alone, and not in any
water change schedule16 May 2004 19:57 GMT1
Do y'all think it's passable to do partial water changes only every other
weekend in my second tank?  I've got a 5 gallon filtered tank with one betta
and two African dwarf frogs at the office and I'd like to be able to work on
it only every other weekend.
Swim-bladder infection16 May 2004 10:19 GMT5
Been a while since I posted - got lost in an ISP switch.  But
I'm back with a question for you all.
I've got a Serpae Tetra from my 30gallon planted tank that I
noticed was having problems swimming level in the tank.  So, I thought,
Difference between Mollies and Platys16 May 2004 04:03 GMT6
Hey All,
How can you tell between a female molly and platy? They kinda look the same
to me (on website pictures).
Reason i am asking is that i suspect i was sold a platy instead of a molly

Not About Sick Fish15 May 2004 16:58 GMT1
> Thanks for posting.  Refreshing to not have to read about more diseased

I think I have been a major contributor to the above-mentioned topic, so I
wanted to post in a different vein...
Can some experts comment on my setup/fish?15 May 2004 16:42 GMT18

Beginner advice15 May 2004 16:08 GMT19
I've been lurking around the various rec.aquaria newsgroups for a while,
read the FAQs, etc.  I'm looking for a little advice.
I have a small (~1 gallon) tank that I'd like to put 1-3 fish into.  I
went to two LFSs today and got conflicting advice on how to set up the
hmm...another first aquarium idea15 May 2004 15:54 GMT6
Still going with sand and java moss with a piece of driftwood...what if
I started to cycle with a male convict chiclid, added a female and let them
spawn, and then add a larger more dominating fish to serve as population
control? I would like to heavily plant the tank so the ...

Dip tube?15 May 2004 14:33 GMT14
Any suggestions on where I could find old-fashioned dip tubes for sale?  Usual
suspects (Foster & Smith, Big Als, etc) don't seem to have them, & I haven't
seen them in LFSs.  Seems to me these would be ideal for daily pl*co-poop
patrol without having to hook up python or air pump ...
