Extremely Cloudy Water27 Jul 2004 21:49 GMT7
Hi, as the subject says, I have extremely cloudy water. The tank is
fully cycled 20g and is a year old. I know this cloudiness is a
bacterial bloom, the water is not green, so an algae bloom is out. The
inhabitants of the tank are:
To buy or not to buy new Dwarf Frogs27 Jul 2004 21:47 GMT6
A year+ ago, I bought four African American Dwarf frogs.   Unfortunately,
two have since died (Both instances due to my own negligence, and I am
painfully aware that I'm an a.shole).
I'd like to do good by the last two frogs.  I understand they are quite

I am a newbie but advancing.
After Nine months of 23 fish in a 50 gallon tank, and about 7 assorted
plants, it is time to give it a good strip down and clean out.  I had a
small UGF in the tank but it did not cover the entire bottom, and I always
Good Tank Mates for Betta and Alkaline Water?27 Jul 2004 16:57 GMT1
I'm setting up a 5 gal tank for my male betta and a mystery snail.  I want
to get him some tank mates now that I have more real estate.  My tap water
is pretty hard and alkaline, pH=7.8.  After a week or so in the tank, the
pH rises to 8.5 or so (due to the aquarium gravel, I ...
Feeding Betta's / Tetra's / Gourami's27 Jul 2004 16:53 GMT2
I've been been feeding my tank of Tetra's and Gourami's with flake
food, and I have just added a betta to the tank, and he isn't
interested!  He sucks bits in, but then spits them out again!  (My wife
swears he eats the white coloured ones though...)
Siamese Fighting fish27 Jul 2004 16:53 GMT9
I am setting up a 5 Gal. tank for a male Betta. I have been planning to keep
both a female and a male but have run into advice about not keeping them
together because the male might become aggressive towards the female. Is
this true? If it is, what other kinds of fish can i keep ...

Hi All,
I recently picked up a loach from my LFS. The owner said that the
loach is from Indonesia but was not sure exactly what it is.
Could anybody help me with identifying this loach and its basic

white lumps on wild caught mollies26 Jul 2004 11:10 GMT3
I have some a green sailfin molly I caught a few weeks ago, and I he has
some growths on him I hope someone can help me identify.  I have a fish
disease book, and didn't see it in there.  The growths started out as a
small white spot, kind of like an ick spot, but not as many.  The ...
Pea Gravel Question25 Jul 2004 15:12 GMT4
I went to a couple of different places that had pea gravel in bags,
found some busted open and snitched a handful of each.  Came home, and
washed it reasonably and then dumped both into separate bowls of
vinegar.  The one with smaller grains had, maybe 2-4 grains that slowly
backgrounds25 Jul 2004 15:01 GMT1
Somebody posted a link to an Australian site that sold 3D backgrounds a
while back. I'm unable to find that posting, but maybe somebody bookmarked
the site?
Any other site that sells different kinds of 3D backgrounds? I'm not after

I will be going on a weeks vacation and have a 2.5G tank with 2 small
fish in it.  I purchased WARDLEY VACATION FOOD. it says each shell
will provide food for 15 average size fish for 10-14 days.  I am

new tank24 Jul 2004 22:08 GMT8
Here are my 3 questions, read on to hear the full story:
Is it worth trying to get the alkalinity up from 3-4dH? Have I done
more harm than good boiling the ceramic media? Should I try to kick
start the cycle?
Chronic Fin Rot - Betta24 Jul 2004 20:25 GMT3
This pattern has been going on a while.
I change the bettas water (about 1 gal of his 1.5 gal tank every week) and
a couple of days later he suddenly gets fin rot overnight. I treat with 1
tsp salt to the 1.5 gal and a couple of days later he's fine again.  For a
New 55G, filtration questions...24 Jul 2004 17:08 GMT9
I have a new (used) 55G that I am setting up.  After reading and reading
I have decided that the best filtration for me would be a combination of
an RUGF and a power or canister filter.  A couple of questions:
- Is driving a RUGF with the output from a canister filter a reasonable ...
