this afternoon we visited the new branch of an aquatics shop with a good reputation (the previous and before this only branch certainly had, anyway) while we were at the garden centre. The pond fish all looked healthy and well filtered etc, and the tropical tanks *looked* fine, ...

I have a 10 gal. freshwater tank. It was initially occupied with 12 feeder minnows. After about 2 weeks, 8 have died and 4 survived. I put it a 2" African cichlid, the aggressive type. The cichlid doesn't seem to be too interested in the minnows and they lived together for about 2 ...

| removing silicone? | 11 Jul 2004 19:55 GMT | 8 |
A friend has just acquired an aquarium which has some kind of backing siliconed to the back wall - apparently it's black, looks a bit like petrified wood and has "juwel" on the back. I haven't seen it myself, but he says he hates it (from his description it's pretty nasty, but

| reality check: moving cross country | 11 Jul 2004 19:19 GMT | 6 |
My boyfriend and I are moving from New York to California at the end of this month. We are very attached to our fish, but I'm wondering now if it's easier to give them up and know they'll have a chance at a good life with new owners, or to be selfish and try to bring them with us ...
