Tetra disease id?29 Sep 2004 04:22 GMT2
One of my black neon tetras, a big one, had what looked like a small
abrasion on its side.  Now, maybe a week later, that abrasion is like a
white smudge, a little fluffy looking.  No other marks or strange behavior.
Other fish look OK.  Easy to identify?  I don't have a quarantine ...

Different Dechlorinators?28 Sep 2004 23:52 GMT4
I've been lurking for a while enjoying all the wisdom and interesting
threads. Now I have a simple question about dechlorinators.
For a while I used various brands and more or less you had to use the
same amount of dechlorinator per litre of water.
heaters for large aquarium28 Sep 2004 14:35 GMT11
I am trying to select a heater for my new fish tank.  It is 135 gallons.  I
have read that you need 3 or 4 watts of power per gallon, so that's 405-540
watts.  I keep my house at about 68 degrees year round.  I found a 500 watt
titanium heater with controller and separate ...
question about neon tetras28 Sep 2004 07:42 GMT8
I have a few neon tetras mixed with some guppies.  They appear to get along during the day, but I always seem to lose one after I turn off the lights and check on them the following morning.  Are the tetras naturally weak?  The guy at the LFS told me that tetras have the highest ...
What to feed cardinal tetras??28 Sep 2004 07:01 GMT8
I've been using Tetra Min to feed my cardinals but even granules this small
is too big sometimes.  I also feed frozen brine shrimp and see some of it
being eaten but not much (again it appears too big for their mouths).  I've
got a 35 gallon planted tank which has been set up for ...
Snail only tank28 Sep 2004 03:05 GMT1
My wife just started a science teaching job and I would like to set up a
tank for her class.  I have a 5 gallon Pyrex glass jar/bottle that I would
like to use.  What I hope to do is set up a water terarium - hopefully a
couple of plants and some snails.  They tank will not be able ...
endlers?27 Sep 2004 23:51 GMT13
does anyone know anything about keeping endlers? They look very sweet,
and I'm wondering about putting something in my soon-to-be-empty little
tank.
I only wanted ONE tank, dammit.
Angel breeding...never successful27 Sep 2004 22:29 GMT3
I'm posting this on behalf of my pair of angels, who have spawned
probably around 9 times now, never yielding a batch of fry that live
past the wriggler stage.
1st time: parents eat fry.  That's to be expected.
kuhli loaches27 Sep 2004 07:54 GMT4
I asked a bit ago what people would choose to keep if they had an empty,
cycled 13 gallon (US) tank.
would a few kuhli loaches and a small school of something tiny work?
2.5 gal minibow -- betta26 Sep 2004 17:37 GMT28
i bought a 2.5 gal minibow yesterday.  it came with a whisper
filter...that takes up too much room :\  plus i have to leave about 3
inches of the tank empty in order for the filter to run!  ugh.
anyway, my betta has not had a heater before and i was thinking of
sand substrates26 Sep 2004 15:49 GMT13
I have a couple quick questions about builders sand, a.k.a. "leveling sand"
that you can buy at the home improvement store.
It is C-33 - what does that mean?
The data sheet says it is at least 99% SiO2 in the form of silica and
Feeding Platies Egg yolk...26 Sep 2004 08:55 GMT1
Just out of curiosity.. but can you feed grown platies cooked egg
yolk?  I'd like to suppliment their diet with something so that
they're not just getting flake food.
Also, I was curious as to normal platy size.  I have one male that I
Now I've seen everything26 Sep 2004 04:39 GMT3
In the afternoon the light hits my betta's tank in just the right way to
cause a reflection.  He loves to flare & display for himself.  Today I was
watching him and he started chasing his tail (trying to get the "other"
fish, I guess).  Unfortunately, he caught himself, bit off a ...
Usage of CYCLE and AQUA-PLUS26 Sep 2004 04:11 GMT2
I'd like to hear from people who have used Hagen's water conditioners
CYCLE and AQUA-PLUS.
Does AQUA-PLUS really work??  Marketing says that:
- Makes tap water safe by eliminating chlorine and chloramine
