Adding coarse salt to a tank?25 Oct 2004 23:53 GMT2
Hiya
My fish have just gone through a SEROUS ick infection and I somehow
managed to cure it with some protozin. My uncle says I should add some
salt to my tank (coarse salt) and I have heard it is a good idea but
Popeye?25 Oct 2004 22:30 GMT7
I have a huge catfish in an aquarium and he seems to have popeye. Anyway I'm
assuming as much since his one eye is huge! I isolated him from the other
fish and have treated him with Maracyn. Is this going to work or is there a
better way to take care of it?

mushed peas were surprising well received.  Broccoli and zucchini were
Red Poo - Black Molly25 Oct 2004 13:45 GMT1
Hi - My Black Molly has bright red poo. I hope it's because we changed
his food and the food has some red flakes. Am I right? My platty died
last week - I think it was a swim bladder so I want to make sure this
isn't an infection too. Thanks Emma

How to Handle Aggressive Fish24 Oct 2004 14:50 GMT1
I have some Mbuna's terrorizing the tank.  Any suggestions for ways to
chill them out?  Or is there a market for trades among enthusiasts?
They either need to mellow out or go...and I'm not up for any kind of
extrermination.  I'm willing to just give them to my LFS if they will

Angelfish Tumour?24 Oct 2004 01:52 GMT1
I have noticed a protrusion on the side of one of my angelfish that is
growing slowly, day by day. I'm wondering which organs occupy the area
of the growth?
Here's a photo:
filter and substrate and combinations23 Oct 2004 17:55 GMT2
I have a mishmash of different aquariums and peices and parts that were
given to me for free.
That said, I'd like to not spend much money on setting them up.
I am setting up the 30 gallon one now.  I have UG plates and risers, a
Controlling PH at home?23 Oct 2004 17:45 GMT3
Is there a way to lower the ph of a home tank with out using the chemicals
the pet shops sell? Something already around the house, a natural rock or
something like that?
                                                                      Thanks
MTS out of control23 Oct 2004 17:33 GMT73
Quite some time ago (a year or more) I was given a handful of Malaysian
Trumpet snails by a local fish store. I counted perhaps a hundred. Most
went into my heavily planted 20 gallon community tank, where they've
done quite well for themselves.
Please help my Sick Wagtail Platy23 Oct 2004 15:27 GMT5
Hi. Please help me. My Platy has been ill for a few days now. It was
resting at the bottom of the tank. I couldn't see any physical signs.
I checked all my levels - I even took them to the fish shop for a
second opinion - they are fine. I put him in isolation yesterday and
Freshwater Shrimps23 Oct 2004 14:29 GMT27
Hiya
Do freshwater shrimps really exist, if they do can you keep them in
tanks? What is their main purpose and how suitable are they in a
comminity tank? Are they colourful and entertaining to watch, and what
dropsy22 Oct 2004 10:45 GMT4
Hi. I have a tetra that looks like it has dropsy and it is not improving.
I've tried antibiotic on it but may have been too late.  Is this contagious
to the other fish?  Is this fish suffering?  Should I put it out of its
misery?  How?
Sick snail and snail eggs question22 Oct 2004 07:59 GMT3
My young son has a tank with only snails.  The snails have been laying
eggs like mad, which is to be expected.  However, a few days ago I saw
his favourite snail floating 1/2 up the tank with eggs stuck on its
shell, or coming out of the shell, hard to say.  I thought the snail
