| Power cut | 10 Oct 2004 03:42 GMT | 1 |
The inevitable happened, one of the aquarium hoses popped off and flooded the room. I was out just 3 hours and returned to my house which was in total darkness. The aquarium emptied as much water as it could, but stopped when it reached the filter intake which is a third of the

| Kuhli Loaches and Apple Snails? | 10 Oct 2004 03:17 GMT | 4 |
I have a couple of 3" + sized apple snails in a 46 gallon community tank- I know loaches just love snails, and was wondering if they'd go after these two monsters if I added them in. I have this fantasy that they're too big to be eaten, but don't want to find out the hard way.

| Do Different Breeds of Corys Interact? | 09 Oct 2004 18:50 GMT | 3 |
I currently have 2 exquisite baby adolfi corys in my quarantine tank. Once I add them to the main tank, what are the chances of them playing with the 3 albino corys already there? I really want more corys, but am wondering whether to stick to more of just

| Baby shrimp! | 09 Oct 2004 18:11 GMT | 2 |
This morning I saw a tiny (around 1-2 mm) shrimp in my 20g long tank. Not sure which species it is, my guess is that it's a red cherry shrimp. The other two species in the tank are amano shrimp, which I understand require salt water when spawned, and a filter feeder shrimp that ...

Hey Guys, Got some driftwood for my plecos in my 90g. Over the last 4 weeks, the pH has lowered from 8.5 to 6.0. The tap water is 7.2-8.0 (Depends on the week, draws from 7 wells). So far, no adverse affects during water changes, as I

| River pebbles instead of gravel ? | 09 Oct 2004 03:24 GMT | 5 |
Netmax has a novel design for a low maintenance aquarium on his website: http://www.2cah.com/netmax/diy_projects/vac/vac.shtml There are several clever elements incorporated there. The key element of interest to me is the use of large pebbles over a UGF plate, with a canister ...

| what disease is this? | 09 Oct 2004 00:36 GMT | 4 |
There is a strange growth that looks like a small strip of algae, and is dark green in color. Normally I can see it on fins or attached to fins or near the mouth or gills. What is this? The fins are still complete and intact so I don't think its fin-rot, and definitely not

| Swimming pool test kit for pH ? | 08 Oct 2004 18:21 GMT | 10 |
Seeking some consensus on a good and reliable way to measure pH in the freshwater aquarium! I have tried several aquarium test kits, Red Sea (low range) and Tetra (low range) come to mind. I find it error-prone and generally inaccurate to try comparing

| CO2 question | 08 Oct 2004 01:04 GMT | 2 |
Are there any bad effects from injecting DIY CO2 into a tank? I'm sure there must be some warnings and that's why I ask. I have a 46g with a good number of plants in it. I'd like to inject CO2 to boost growth, but I'm afraid that I might screw up the pH levels, what are

I can't remember if I have ever asked this question in this particular newsgroup before or not. I have a Hewlett-Packard e-scanner hooked up to my Webtv unit and was wondering if I were to post scans/photos of my fish, et cetera, in this newsgroup, would it be okay?~Dean.

After months of trouble free operation of three different tanks, I've got a small disaster on my hands today. In my three-gallon Eclipse, I have an assortment of plnats, some pond snails to help keep algae under control, and two Threadfin Rainbows,

| cory cat ? | 05 Oct 2004 15:46 GMT | 8 |
I have had the same albino cory cats for some years now. A few years ago one of my cory's lost both of its eyes to I think was an attack from another fish. I removed the fish in question and the cory is still with me today. He is blind but that does not seem to hold him back. ...

| Total Chlorine | 05 Oct 2004 15:17 GMT | 3 |
Has anyone measured the total chlorine levels in their established aquarium? The TC level coming out of my tap water is .25 mg/L. I did a 10% water change 2 days ago. I dechlorinate with the recommended amount to remove chloramines using a double dose. I just checked the TC in my ...
