I was thinking about mixing in some dwarf gouramis with guppies. Some sources say they are compatible, while some sources say they are not. Which is correct? Also I found a LFS with a true dwarf gourami. What's the difference between the true dwarf and the dwarf?

I have a Jewel 750 litre tank, with a sandy bottom instead of gravel. All the plants I have in the tank are artificial, but I continue to get major problems with algae on the glass and develpoing all over the plants. Any ideas how I can permanently get rid of it please?
