| Snail death! | 20 Nov 2004 00:43 GMT | 9 |
I'm the newbie with the divided 10 gallon holding two bettas. When I was trying to find what the bettas liked to eat (Hikari) I added two ramshorn snails, one for each side. They were happily eating the detritus, the sunken food, and the occasional leaf (the tank is heavily

| Eheim Substrat | 19 Nov 2004 17:22 GMT | 2 |
I have a couple of Eheim Professionel 2s that have been using the same Substrat media since the filters were purchased (one two years ago, one about a year ago). From what I've read, it seems like this media was designed to be changed on a regular basis. Why? Does it lose ...

| buffering (carbonate hardness) is 0!!! Please help!!! | 19 Nov 2004 16:04 GMT | 7 |
I've just setup a new aquarium (29 gl, flourite and a few plants, 55W CF). My water tests look a little wierd: the carbonate hardness is 0, while total hardness is 120 with pH 6.8 or 7 (I can't decide which color fits better). So, I assume, that the only hardness I have is

| A few questions | 19 Nov 2004 09:55 GMT | 9 |
I'm a long-time aquarist who's owned a dozen or more aquariums with most common freshwater creatures at one time or another. I've generally enjoyed great success with all the fish that I've owned, from Arrowanas to Zebra Danios! I got out of the hobby over a decade ago, but got ...

| Danio Chasing Danio | 19 Nov 2004 04:57 GMT | 2 |
We have a 30 gallon tropical freshwater tank. Our one danio keeps chasing the other danio relentlessly. Is this something we should be concerned about? Should we separate them? Thanks.

| HELP! Velvet in my tank! | 19 Nov 2004 04:55 GMT | 1 |
I have what appears to be velvet in my 30 gallon aquarium. The fish look like they are dusted with rust and have a reddish-brown sheen when I shine a flashlight on them. Water parameters are fine and I believe it came from a fish I recently bought from the pet store.

| Water Question | 19 Nov 2004 02:52 GMT | 6 |

| Web site started | 18 Nov 2004 14:45 GMT | 4 |
http://www.geocities.com/erviservy/Fish_Pictures.html Hello, To give me something to do while the fish are swimming I started a web site. I tend to get very into (obsessed?) with my hobbies and this time around of fish keeping is no difference. I've read many valuable pages ...

| Planted tetra tanks: my dialog with NetMax | 18 Nov 2004 04:49 GMT | 4 |
Netmax wrote in e-mail, and I re-post with edits: [Modular filters in planted tetra tanks] [I worried about w/d filters' outgassing power making CO2-injected tanks difficult to maintain, and suggested use of modular system

| SAE Malnourishment? | 16 Nov 2004 23:45 GMT | 8 |
I had an algae problem and bought an SAE. About the next day all the algae was gone. About a month after buying the fish I find his carcass on the gravel, but still no algae in the tank. Now, about a week later I see algae growing again.

| Haunted tank light? | 16 Nov 2004 18:45 GMT | 5 |
My light keeps going on and off by itself. It'll stay on for 1/2 hour or so and next thing I know, it's off. The bulb is tight! What's up? Is this a sign that it'll blow soon or am I missing something?

| grey eyes | 16 Nov 2004 05:12 GMT | 2 |
My white fantail (about an inch long) has developed a sort of greyish crescent around her eyes. Water parameters are perfect (0, 0, <10). She doesn't show any behavioral differences. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
