Now I've gone and done it04 Nov 2004 12:40 GMT11
My wife told me that I ought to get out and enjoy the nice day today.
She neglected to tell me that I should *not* take a net and a jar
along. I ended up at one of the drainage ponds in the neighborhood.
Despite its general rank stench and stagnant water, this pond hosts all

Hello fishy folks.
While I was on the phone with the Naperville, Illinois PetLand asking whether
or not they carried pygmy Cories.....the lady mentioned to me that their entire
fish order (it was fish day) was sent to New Jersey. Somehow the airline made a
Walmart 55 gallon aquarium02 Nov 2004 23:12 GMT28
I plan on getting a 55 gallon (glass) tank from Walmart. Someone told me
that the Whisper filter that comes with the tank is not a good filter to
use. Can any one tell me what a good hang on the back type filter would be
to get.  Thanks for any advice.
aquarium salt and bettas02 Nov 2004 21:32 GMT3
I'm reading conflicting information here - some say no aquarium salt for
bettas, other say they are OK with it. What is your position on this?

Keeping fishes in aquaria is a sin ! ! !02 Nov 2004 20:22 GMT42
Jesus wants the fishes to live in lakes, rivers or the oceans!
Keeping them in aquaria is a sin and if you don't free them, you'll go to HELL!
Aquarium Salt02 Nov 2004 13:24 GMT3
My wife and I are relatively new to keeping fish and have for various
reasons (friends, relatives, garage sales...) acquired several tanks with
bettas, guppies, swordtails, angels, tetras, neons, mollies, goldfish, and
(of all things) native Oklahoma bullhead catfish. We are about ...
Clean sand02 Nov 2004 10:15 GMT8
When I changed over to my new tank a while back, I changed from gravel, to a
large grained soft sand, this was to allow the clowns to have a good root
around. My question is to anyone out there with sand, how the hell do you
keep it clean. I found that about every third water change ...
Setting Up 33 Gallon Long02 Nov 2004 09:31 GMT2
I'm in the process of setting up a new tank. Currently I have a 4-inch
ryukin and a 2-inch telescope eye in a 20 gallon long tank. I just
purchased a 33 gallon long tank. The 33 long is 12 inches tall and 48
inches (4 feet) long.
Painted skirt02 Nov 2004 07:18 GMT3
I went to the LFS yesterday and they had some fish I had not seen before.
They were called painted skirts.  They were very pretty, but looked kind of
fake in a way.  Does anyone know anything about these?  I ended up getting
11 new fishies yesterday.   Those dwarf gouramies are ...
Plant oxygen production01 Nov 2004 23:15 GMT15
One of my Echinodorus has sprung a gas leak. In the photo below it is
possible to see a stream of bubbles leaving the middle of the leaf. This
started happening after I fully opened the blinds to let the sun in.
Could be a coincidence though. An angefish was also cleaning off the ...
filter01 Nov 2004 09:47 GMT2
I have an aquaclear 500 and am unable to hang it on the back because of a
piece of glass that holds the lid is in the way.
What would be a good solution
(a) remove someof that glass to fit the filter
Boiling water in water changes...01 Nov 2004 08:21 GMT3
Just wondering, is it OK to add water heated/boiled in a kettle/saucepan to
cold water to match temperature for a water change?

Building waterfalls, backgrounds, ect01 Nov 2004 06:50 GMT3
I realize this is probably off topic for the group. If so steer me the
correct group please.
New house is almost finished and we planned a 6 foot tank as a divider. Open
on both long sides and one end. I am ready to buy a new 120+ G tank but now
Antibiotic treatment for fish TB?01 Nov 2004 01:11 GMT13
I posted several months ago asking for help in setting up a new tank
for some aquababies (www.aquababies.com) fish I had gotten as a gift.
The answers I received were really useful, especially those from
NetMax.  And, I've learned a great deal running google searches in
