| Tiger barbs killing corys | 20 Dec 2004 09:15 GMT | 3 |
A few days ago I added 7 small tiger barbs to one of my community tanks, which already contained two corys, two otocinclus, one dwarf african frog, one flower shrimp (aka wood shrimp), and six neon tetras. My initial concern was that the tiger barbs might harass the neon

| Acclimating Fish - wide pH range | 19 Dec 2004 01:18 GMT | 3 |
Well, I bought two large - humongous angel fish last week for $6 each (1/2 price)! The LFS guy said don't be surprised if they die because they just arrived from Florida and the big ones don't usually make it. So 3 days later they are both dead and I get my refund. So now I'm ...

| Whew! | 17 Dec 2004 19:43 GMT | 17 |
Some time ago I'd bought three nice, small, SAEs for my plated 20 gallon, to help keep the algea I was battling at the time under control. They didn't stay small for long. Within a year they were each five inches long, very robust (fat, even), highly energetic, and constantly

| About my water tests | 17 Dec 2004 13:15 GMT | 11 |
I had been having a problem for a couple of months with a white cloud that just would not go away on it's own. There have been no fish deaths, I have reduced the feeding and monitored just about everything I could test for with my water. I have been doing 30% water changes every ...

| Has anyone got a lot of platies?? | 17 Dec 2004 10:36 GMT | 3 |
Due to my original ignorance of being sold by LFS a pregnant female and male (she had fry 3 days later) as my "first fish" I now have 22 platies. The male was removed as I learnt more, but they are all together now as the fry are 50 percent male. I have 10 females, 9 males and 3 ...

| IR - night video | 17 Dec 2004 01:16 GMT | 4 |
I want to make a video of my fish, in pitch black. And I want it on my web cam :) So how should I go about this? I'm thinking IR light, but where can I get an IR almp that doesn't cost a fortune (it doesn't need to be larger than a diode really), and what extra equipment do I ...

Are you are interested in adding an interesting companion to your freshwater Aquarium? Then can I interest you in the Triops creature? These come in lots of species but the three most popular are: Triops cancriformis (Europe)

| Problems feeding Fire Eel | 16 Dec 2004 13:29 GMT | 3 |
I have a problem. Whenever I try to feed my fire eel, my 3 oscars constantly snatch up the food before the eel gets a chance. I tried holding food in my hand for him, but the Oscars constantly snatch up the food. They manage to take his food even with the aquarium lights

| High Temp | 16 Dec 2004 12:34 GMT | 8 |
I've just started cycling a Juwel Rio 240 (50g). However, I can't get the temp down below 80 unless I switch the lights off, which is no good as I have plants in. I've checked the heater.

| Am I killing my Black Widows? | 16 Dec 2004 10:52 GMT | 5 |
I've a 60l 24" wide Rena tank which is 3 months old and contains lots of plants, a 1 week old eheim 2210 filter alongside the rena II internal filter and about 15 fish, 3 dwarf african frogs, 3 golden apple snails. Water as clear as crystal.

| False SAE's | 16 Dec 2004 10:45 GMT | 4 |
After a year and a half of what I thought were SAE's it turns out they are the false variety. They eat most of the algae in my tank except the tuft type. My LFS has said they will take them back for real SAE's. I do like them and they do have 'personalities' and having just taken ...

My fishes demand a bigger fishtank and since fishes are kings, I must do what they want!

| sources for "freshwater mussels/clams" | 15 Dec 2004 16:45 GMT | 7 |
Hello. I am seeking sources for obtaining freshwater mussels or clama. Where are good places to deal with? Or do you have some you could spare? I especially would love some species that don't require parasiting fish in larval stage.

| koi temp... | 15 Dec 2004 10:57 GMT | 1 |
So I've got this 700 gallon pool set up in my basement now. The pump leaks a bit but I don't care much because I haven't gotten a 'lid' for it all yet anyway. Fish isn't going in for a while. I've already got my koi in the basement, in a tank with ~80g, and a 10g
