Smelly Water18 Jan 2005 03:48 GMT2
I'm just wondering whether my fish tank should be giving off strange
odors. (I don't know how to describe it. It smells sort of tepid?)
All of the other parameters seem ok. (Zero ammonia, zero nitrites,
minimal nitrates, water temp 80.) (Ten gallon tank, 5 small tiger
Betta must have seen Nemo  = (17 Jan 2005 15:19 GMT3
Last week I got a batch of Molly fry to be used as both feeders and to raise
several up (they're Yucatans, and I like this type better than the Shenops).
I culled the week or the ones without the cirrect body shape, etc and dropped
one into each male Betta tank and the rest of the ...
Gold Harlequin Rasboras?17 Jan 2005 04:35 GMT4
Hi, All.  I'm new here (or actually very, very old depending on how you
look at it).  I hope I'm not asking something that's already been
answered recently.  Today at the LFS, I saw some charming gold-colored
harlequin rasboras.  These weren't Rasbora vaterifloris - the black
Gonopodium envy of a jealous sociopath killer sailfin molly!17 Jan 2005 00:10 GMT3
I have a male sailfin molly (poecilia velifera) along with a couple of
swordtails (two females, one male). The male swordtail is a very
beautiful, spotted red, long tailed specimen, and has a nice and lengthy
gonopodium.
De-Clorinating 850g of water16 Jan 2005 19:18 GMT12
So the next question would be...
How do I De-Chlorinate 850g of water.  Chemical treatment would cost big $$$
How long would it take to evaporate the chlorine from 850 gallons of city
water with three 2' X 2' hatches?
Preliminary Fish List!16 Jan 2005 17:12 GMT11
Hello, after watching my empty tank for a few days now, I am getting
itchy to start building my fish!  (I know I have to add gradually and
slowly - probably no real fish for 2 weeks, and can't have the total
number for 2 months or more.)
Blue water oxygen tablets from LFS?16 Jan 2005 14:18 GMT9
Today I found the first LFS in the area that I've ever seen to carry
SAEs and Amano shrimp.  They had seven lively SAEs in a tank - I took
them all home.  They had a planted tank (that looked horrible) with some
Amano shrimp - I spotted four.
Gourami mates16 Jan 2005 05:51 GMT9
Hi - I have been wanting to add a few gouramis or build a new tank with
them, but I have read some discouraging info as far as tank mates.
2 sites say Regular size gouramis are not compatible with tetras, yes to
cherry barbs no to cories or pl*co, yes to ottos.  Dwarfs are ...
add tiger barb to larger tank?15 Jan 2005 13:47 GMT2
I have a tiger barb in a 5g all by it's lonesome.  Can I add it to my
26g (keyholes, gold ram and electric yellows)?
TIA
Clown Loaches flashing14 Jan 2005 16:00 GMT45
Hi all I need some advise.  Today my Clown Loaches and a few others began
flashing like crazy.  I have had them for a year and they have been very
healthy once I got them past the ich. I checked the water, NH3/NO2 is at
zero pH is stable at 7.6 and temperature is also stable at ...

Amano shrimp in Chicagoland?14 Jan 2005 04:31 GMT6
Have you guys seen amano japonica shrimp anywhere in Chicagoland LFS?
I have seen glass shrimp (feeders) in many stores but cannot find amano.
Co2 Diffusers14 Jan 2005 00:05 GMT10
In my endless research on the net these past few days I've read all
sorts of DIY Co2 methods - from the very expensive and / or complicated
(needles, gages, tanks, etc.) to the very simple

dying corys13 Jan 2005 15:28 GMT7
Hi, i'm wondering if anybody could give any insight into the deaths of a
couple of corys.
I had a 20gal with 6 cardinals and 2 small corys, all added over the last 6
