Adding fish09 Jan 2005 18:01 GMT4
I have two tanks which I think should have a little 'headroom' to add a few
more fish.  Water parameters are excellent and I test and change water
regularly. I am considering small danios and/or black skirt tetras.  One
tank has 3 aeneus(sp) cories, 2 ottos and 3 Buenos Aires tetras ...
Using potassium metabisulfite to remove chloramine?09 Jan 2005 06:34 GMT3
Howdy good folk.
I am not currently an aquarium owner, but I have a question that you
should know something about.  I make my own beer and I live in Oakland CA
where they use chloramine in the water.  I purchased potassium

LFS Quarantine?08 Jan 2005 22:28 GMT16
Do fish stores ever quarantine new fish as a rule or would that be
expecting too much - i.e., loss of profit from holding back stock...
It would be great to know that when I went to my LFS, the fish I chose
had already been quarantined and deemed healthy.  I know some stores
First Tests results are in.08 Jan 2005 19:02 GMT4
Hi Guys, I am not sure what to make of this (this is for the new 4' tank
which is now lightly stocked (fish), with a couple of inert rocks, a large
piece of scrubbed and prepared bogwood, quite a few plants and black washed
(new) gravel about 3" thick, 2 x 36W T5 fluoro - 219L/58 ...
soft/hard water and ph08 Jan 2005 16:19 GMT7
The ph from my hot water(water softener used) is much lower than the
hard water from the cold tap.  About 7ish compared to 8-8.5 for the
cold water.  Is it the salt in the hot water system that does this?
If so, to bring my 26g tank's ph down from the 8-8.5 it  presently is,
Is this Hole In The Head?08 Jan 2005 13:02 GMT2
Someone emailed me about her sick Oscar which has sores, mainly
on its head. Sounded like Hole in the head to me, but I've never
seen that on a live fish, only in photos.
She sent me a photo and said I could publish it if it helps get

Fluval restart questions06 Jan 2005 16:30 GMT10
I've got two fluval 304s on my 75 gallon tank. One restarts fine, the other
will not siphon unless I fill the cannister with tank water first. It's
either a flakey unit or a slight difference in the angle/length of the
tubing. But I swear I measured. :)

Danio behaviour06 Jan 2005 03:44 GMT2
My son upgraded his tank to a 6 x 2 x 1.5 and transferred all his fish about
a month ago. He has just added  2 gouramis, 4 para tetras and 2 borneo
suckers. His danios have now started behaving oddly, one getting into a cave
and circling, another hiding in a narrow gap on the gravel ...

china as decoration05 Jan 2005 14:00 GMT2
Just wondering if it's safe to use china (teacups, etc...) as
decorations in a fish tank?  Is there anything in the glazes that can
leach out & harm the fish?
TIA
