I am still in the conceptual design phase of an indoor/outdoor combination pond/water garden/aquarium, to be located in a tropical climate. As you might imagine, this is providing some pretty unique challenges -- those three worlds are quite well developed in and of

| Looking for Malaysian Trumpet Snails | 22 Feb 2005 00:43 GMT | 4 |
I'm looking for a supply of MTS to introduce to my recently set up 240gal tank. I've had them in the past and loved the way they work. But moving and 6 months of tank down time seems to have killed off my current stock. Does anyone know of a vendor for MTS? I'm watching ebay but ...

| betta - Female Bubblenest | 22 Feb 2005 00:30 GMT | 17 |
all you betta lovers out there. Have you ever seen a Female Betta build a "mini" bubble nest? I'm pretty sure mine just built one this morning. I'll see if I can get a picture of her adding to the nest.

| Swollen betta | 21 Feb 2005 15:15 GMT | 6 |
I was given a betta which had been kept in a small tank where it didn't get much attention, and appeared to be very, very fat. I took it, and put it on a diet (and kept an eye on it), but it has

| pH for tropical fish | 21 Feb 2005 04:56 GMT | 14 |
I recently set up a 20 gallon tank, and added 1 female guppy with some young ones. The pH is 7.8 - is this too high? This is pretty much what comes out of the tap, so should I try to lower it artificially? I am planning to add other tropical fish in the future (probably neon ...

| A tank in my cubicle?? | 21 Feb 2005 00:09 GMT | 32 |
Oh no, I'm in deep now. For a couple of weeks I've been pondering the idea of a small desk top tank here in my cubicle. There aren't any logical reasons why not to have one, and I can probably avoid the illogical reasons if I'm discrete.

| Aquarium Salt | 21 Feb 2005 00:02 GMT | 1 |
In my pond I typically only add Rock Salt - 99.x % pure - no additives - and then just for 'medicinal' purposes. However, I am led to believe that adding a steady level is beneficial for livebearers. Is this okay to be used for my platys (and a Molly) or are the extra stuff in ...

| Have my fish been watching Stargate? (humor) | 20 Feb 2005 23:27 GMT | 24 |
Strange, strange: I think one of my Hockey Tetras managed to open a worm hole in the tank last night and has exited this galaxy :) I was asleep last night, and I usually listen to a local AM radio station

| Free, Sturdy Aquarium Stand Design and Instructions | 20 Feb 2005 20:38 GMT | 1 |
Hey all, Soon after buying a brand new 65 gallon aquarium (above), I searched online for about two months for inexpensive, attractive aquarium stand designs that didn't require fancy woodworking equipment or expertise.

| Too much Gammarus = dead fish? | 20 Feb 2005 19:48 GMT | 4 |
I have a 10 gallon heavily planted plant tank and recently the Gammarus population exploded. Hundreds of Gammarus swimming everywhere even during the day when the lights were on. I didn't keep any fish in the tank. To whittle down the Gammarus I added 8 checkered barbs less than

| White slime | 20 Feb 2005 19:44 GMT | 16 |
Wondering if anyone has dealt with stuff before. It is whitish or opaque and seems to be (growing) in my intake tube and sponge filters of my hang on filter. It clogs up the tube and the sponge filter. It's almost like a gel it gets so thick. I have a 40 g with co2 and 96 watts ...

| Not a Flaming Female! | 20 Feb 2005 04:58 GMT | 2 |
I am gradually stocking my 50-gallon bowfront, and today I purchased 3 female "Dwarf Flame Gouramis" to go with my two established males. However, when I got home, and I could see the new fish in better light, I can see faint stripes on ONE of the females. She isn't a Flame

| platy poop | 20 Feb 2005 02:47 GMT | 4 |
Hi all - This is the first time I have had platys and frequently they seem to have quite a long little poop trail. Is this normal for them or does it just mean I need to vary their diet more? Thanxx

| Annoying newbie questions | 20 Feb 2005 01:55 GMT | 6 |
After a 10 year hiatus, I'm thinking about getting back into the aquarium hobby. As a kid I had a 20 gallon tank, but my interests waned and I wound up selling the set to a neighbor. As a recent college grad working 9-5 with not much else to do, I think I want to immerse myself
