Mandy's sick puppies16 Feb 2005 20:28 GMT39
Okay, this evening, female blue ram has only two spots  (somehow lost
two) but now the male ram has one spot on both pectoral fins.  His
spots are whitish. Hers might look more yellow because one is on her
colorful body and the other one is on her colorful dorsal fin.
Snail16 Feb 2005 19:36 GMT8
Have seen a snail in my aquarium, whether it got there as an egg
on a piece of greenery or as a fully shelled snail in amongst the
gravel.  It seems to live on algae growing on the tank walls
(doesn't seem to clean the acrylic very effectively)
Betta Buddies?16 Feb 2005 19:33 GMT10
I've been thinking about adding some new fish to my tank and I've heard
many different things about putting other fish in with male bettas.
Right now, I have two male bettas split up in a 10 gallon tank. I've
heard that I cannot possibly add any other species at all to the tank

I saw Elaine mention this in another thread, but Googling isn't showing me
anything that tells me waht it is.
What is it?

upgrading from 20 to 55 gal...need help16 Feb 2005 01:55 GMT4
Hi aquarium gurus!
I'm a novice aquarium lover who will be upgrading my current 20 gal tank
that I've had for 18 months to a 55 gal next week (yup, should have gone for
the 55 gal from the start!!). The new aquarium will go where the current one
That's it, I've had it - Blue Green Algae15 Feb 2005 17:53 GMT6
I can't take it any more.  I simply cannot beat or keep up with the
blue-green algae outbreak I've had now for about 5 months.  I've tried
everything.  Blacking out the tank, removing my CO2 system, algicide
treatments - nothing works.  It makes my tanks look like crap, and it's
sensitivity to light?15 Feb 2005 16:04 GMT5
I've noticed that recently my gold barbs are extremely sensitive to
light...when the light pops on, they get startled and literally fight
for positions under the plants to avoid the light. They have always
liked spaces in the shade, but seem to have become even more sensitive
What?? Odd Betta Behavior...15 Feb 2005 05:48 GMT10
Hi everyone. I'm so happy because two of my three bettas survived a
total tank disaster. Because of low temperatures and low quality water
(i'm new to aquaria! im trying!) my three bettas got Ich, Fin Rot, Pop
Eye, and Dropsy and other external fungal infections (?)...basically
A Question about Oscars15 Feb 2005 04:36 GMT3
At my LFS today they placed an Oscar on sale for around $13.00,...One
that is about six inches long, front to back,...And I was wondering if
it would be okay to place a fish this size and type in a ten gallon
tank, by itself, with a H-200 Dolphin power filter and an air pump and
snails in the filter question14 Feb 2005 11:19 GMT5
Just cleaned out my cannister adn found a significant number of snails
happily residing therein.
Just wondering if this presents any concerns for the filter or the
fish.
Problem?13 Feb 2005 02:48 GMT3
One of my female Serpae Tetra has a small lump on her bottom lip. It seems
to be white.
When the 6 of them were in the smaller tank (about 1 month ago) about four
of them had the same thing a couple of times and it just went away by
T. espei rasboras need to school12 Feb 2005 22:15 GMT5
Had the most interesting thing happen with my T. espei (lambchop)
rasboras.  I had three, which I tried to put with the betta and then
rescued to the 5 gallon tank.  They were pale, not eating, and staying
in exactly the same spot in the tank.  All water params tested fine.
SFVGC - Guppy Club12 Feb 2005 20:01 GMT1
Any members of the San Fernando Valley Guppy Club that read this
newsgroup?
I'd like to get information on when the member meetings take place and
if there are any upcoming shows.  I've tried to contact Mike Kahlid,
Fluval RFUGF12 Feb 2005 18:23 GMT5
Thank you in advance. I have a 55 gallon freshwater tank. It has an
air-stone UGF. I have had this set up for about three weeks. Currently
it is home to 5 zebra danios. I have just acquired a Fluval 304. My
question is: Could / should I turn my filtering system into a RFUGF or
Do balloon mollies tend to have genetic problems?  Dropsy?  Help!12 Feb 2005 18:14 GMT1
I've got a batch of mollies that are the offspring of a large standard
female black molly and a balloon male black molly.  (The balloons seem
to me to be a fairly new, and odd, variation.  I think they showed up
during the 30 years when I was out of the hobby?)  There are also some
