| How deep should it be? | 12 Mar 2005 23:33 GMT | 5 |
I am still in the conceptual design stage of the tropical water garden/pond/aquarium, mentioned in a couple of earlier posts. I have been fixated on the idea that the deepest pool should be around 5-6' deep, but have recently started thinking -- is there any practical

| Ancistrus wound | 12 Mar 2005 22:12 GMT | 6 |
I just noticed that one of my Ancistrus seems to have a wound similar to a burn on one side. A layer of skin containing the colouration seems to have been grazed or cut away. What could have caused it? The tank has an external heater so that's eliminated. Did it have a scrap with ...

| Overstocking question | 12 Mar 2005 19:24 GMT | 7 |
I've got a 7 gallon Eclipse Hex tank (my first tank) with 6 Harlequin Rasboras and 2 ghost shrimp, no plants. I figured that would be about the limit for this tank, going by the 1"/gallon rule, but then I read Netmax's page on species limiting which mentions that rasboras can ...

| What's up with my Sailfin mollies? | 12 Mar 2005 18:42 GMT | 2 |
We just picked up our two gold sailfin mollies from a friend who was fish sitting for us while our new tank cycled. We had only had them for a short while before our ammonia spiked and started killing some of our other fish. That's when we decided to let a friend fish sit the ...

| How Long Do Tanks Last? | 12 Mar 2005 16:36 GMT | 6 |
My 29 gallon is probably 20 years old. Today, I was scraping a little algae off with a magnet, and I saw a small flap of loose silicone. So, what is the lifespan of a siliconed tank - anybody know? A

| Ammonia reading | 12 Mar 2005 14:49 GMT | 4 |
After 3 weeks from a fresh start, I have ammonia of 2.0, nitrite of 0.0. The nitrite has always been 0.0. I've been adding AmmoLock to remove the toxicity of the ammonia as I have 4 fish in my 20g tank, but I'm still getting this reading of 2.0. The AmmoLock label says that ...

| Adding nitrates to combat BGA...so far so good | 12 Mar 2005 09:03 GMT | 5 |
Well, I seem to have the BGA under control in the Betta's tank for the time being. I did a few things Saturday. 1. Blocked off the sunlight so the tank is now running completely on the 14 watt fluorescent light. I don't think this alone would make much

| 3 Angels in a tank | 12 Mar 2005 04:15 GMT | 8 |
Hi. I put 3 nickel-ish sized angels in a 55g tank a couple of months ago, and now they are about quarter sized. Just the other day I noticed that one of the angels had a large eye, almost like popeye, and it was red on one side. The fish also had some red markings around the ...

The ph on my water is on the high side and I got ph adjust down to bring it down to more acceptable levels. I was told that removing the charcoal filter helps alot because I would need to use less chemical.

| SAEs getting fat | 11 Mar 2005 18:40 GMT | 11 |
I have 4 SAE's in the tank. they're all very active and healthy, but they are such hogs, they're starting to look like they're carrying small balloons in their belly (meaning, very fat.. sort of a fish-version of waddling). I've tried reducing food.. then they're so fast ,they'll ...

Ok since it looks like it's a crayfish, can I at least move it into my 5 gallon tank? It keeps eating my poor plants.
