New 90 gal Suggestions17 Apr 2005 04:59 GMT4
I ran across someone selling 3x90 gallon tanks
2xstands and 1x canopy/light combo for $450(total)
so I couldn't pass it up.  I am looking for some
suggestions on some larger fish that would do well
Betta poop17 Apr 2005 04:21 GMT1
One of my male bettas has about a 1/4" string of poop hanging out and
it's been there for about 24 hours.
From what I could find out, the appropriate treatment for constipation
(I guess that's what this is) is to withhold food for 48 hours and then
Denitrifier17 Apr 2005 04:03 GMT5
has anyone built a coil denitrifier?
i have a 3" freshwater tank with a pair of big (dirty :) goldfish in it and
was wondering if it would help at all.
the tank is about 150L with about 50L in the sump.  It's running a trickle
The luck of the Irish - I hope!17 Apr 2005 03:40 GMT4
I am new to fish keeping so I did several months of reseach before setting
up my new tank.  I read all about cycling, fish choices, stocking schemes
and the best way to stock.  Then with all that knowledge I set up my tank on
March 17th.  The reason I remember the date is I kept ...

Dwarf Gouramis and Dropsy16 Apr 2005 10:34 GMT6
Dang - I am losing my last Dwarf Gourami (Colisa lalia) to dropsy.  (I
got him and another male Flame in mid-January, or about 3 months ago.)
About 2 months ago, I also bought 3 females, thinking this would make
the males happier.  It did, actually - there was so much spawning
Update on first tanks16 Apr 2005 06:23 GMT3
I've only posted a couple times, but I thought I would update anyway.
My wife and I set up a total of three tanks.  The main tank is a 20H
with six cories in it (spotted cories, Corydoras melanistius).  It's
been set up for about a month now, and they're all doing fine.  The tank
Discarda stones not worth it....16 Apr 2005 03:02 GMT2
I tried out my new slim and fine discardastones yesterday and man, not
only is the priming lame to have to do (for an airstone?) but the
result is coarse bubbles (no fine bubbles like what I am looking for),
so I am continuing to use my rena microbubbler for now at the very
Newbie with high Ammonia16 Apr 2005 02:37 GMT11
Hi All.  I am just starting out, and pleased to meet everyone.
Unfortunately, we have trouble already and I am learning best by
experience.  Just have a small tank - 3 gallons with a filter and bio
wheel.  I am starting with three platies, which I now see why I should
Bio Wheels16 Apr 2005 01:11 GMT8
My 50 gal has been running for about 6 months now with a Penguin 330 and
170.  After 'break in' all 3 wheels have always turned at a different rate
from very stop and go to quite evenly.  They have all slowed down as time
has gone by, but in just a day or two, suddenly none seem ...
Lighting Question16 Apr 2005 00:53 GMT1
I have a new 30 gallon tank tank with 8 or so plants and 18 fish.  I know
the norm for lighting is 8 to 12 hours, however can that be exceeded?  My
tank is in my basement where the is NO natural lighting.  Can I increase my
lighting to 13 or 14 hours or am I asking for trouble.
PHYSICAL symptoms of overstocking15 Apr 2005 21:38 GMT26
What are the PHYSICAL symptoms of an overstocked tank?
(I am not looking for a "rule of thumb" here)
When fish die?
When Ammonia leveles go up?
How to identify dwarf gouramis?15 Apr 2005 17:19 GMT7
I am planning on returning the new dwarf goummi that I got and replace
it with a female, because my old goummy is very stressed right now and
sometimes it just lays on the bottom on its side...
Its a sad view and I don't want that to happen anymore.
who is the daddy (guppies)15 Apr 2005 08:35 GMT2
I've recently bought some fancy guppies.  The females are already
"pregnant".  Question is:  If I now put female A with male A, can I be
sure that subsequent litters (not the one the female is carrying now)
is from a mating with male A?  Is there a way to make use of these
Evaporating water15 Apr 2005 03:01 GMT2
When water evaporates it leaves all impurities behind right? Knowing
this, I should NOT condition my water with fertilizers ect. when I top
off the tank, right?
Just a quick thought.
