When water evaporates it leaves all impurities behind right? Knowing this, I should NOT condition my water with fertilizers ect. when I top off the tank, right? Just a quick thought.

| Low Maintenance Fishkeeping | 14 Apr 2005 14:53 GMT | 2 |
So I want to give my opinion on fishkeeping. I have been doing it for about 10 years so I am sure that there are a lot of people out there who have been doing it longer. I am an Environmental Engineer and have taken numerous classes on water and wastewater treatment, so I use some

I have a 50 gal tank with 2, 48" natural light flourecent bulbs. It's time to replace them and since all my plants are gone from the tank (fish love to eat them) I want to replace the bulbs with a light spectrum that will allow me to view my fish but will not encourage

I have a 12g nanocube, originally with 12 happy guppies. All were active and doing well. Water chemistry normal (0 ammonia/nitrites--fully-cycled, <20ppm nitrates, pH 7.2 stable). Then, about 2-3 weeks after introducing fish into the tank, I've been losing

| White Dots on Rocks, not Fish! | 13 Apr 2005 17:51 GMT | 3 |
A few days ago, I noticed a dozen or so white dots (about the size of a pencil point) on a piece of slate I have in my aquarium. I would have thought it was Ich, except that the dots were on a rock and not on a fish. I did not see any dots on any fish. I didn't have time to do ...

| fish eating dead fish? | 13 Apr 2005 10:39 GMT | 13 |
Can other fish eat a dead fish completely? I was gone for 4 days and had a friend feeding my fish everyday. A couple of days after I got home I noticed that my dwarf gourami was gone, and my friend said no fish had died. The rest of my tank is 2 mollies, 3 swordtails, 2 bala sharks, ...

| heater problems | 13 Apr 2005 02:06 GMT | 22 |
Just for info. I've seen the Neptune brand heater suggested as one of the better ones. I may have gotten into a bad batch, but that hasn't been my experience. I put a 25 watt one in a 10 gallon tank in November. In January it
