| Dropped glass lid into empty tank -- is tank ruined? | 31 May 2005 02:56 GMT | 9 |
We bought an 80-gallon (US) tank this evening. We got it home, brought it inside, and put it on the stand without incident. As we were assembling the glass lids, I put one on top and began to line it up on that half of the tank. Just as the thought crossed my mind that I need

| Breeding angels - dither fish? | 31 May 2005 00:59 GMT | 16 |
I have a pair of angelfish that have been laying eggs in my community tank every 4 to 6 weeks for about a year. They seem to try to tend the eggs ok, but usually the eggs disappear in 24 hours or so, so I'm fairly sure the other fish are eating them.

| Betta fins suddenly shredded | 30 May 2005 20:39 GMT | 23 |
Ack! I have 2 bettas in a divided 2.5 gal tank with a Nano Filter. I woke up this morning and both bettas' fins are in tatters. I'm talking total, heartbreaking shreds. Both were in perfect shape last night. I immediately tested the water, expecting to see ammonia but it was ...

| Siamese Snail Eater | 30 May 2005 20:19 GMT | 5 |
Mention keeps being made in the group about the different personalities of bettas. This is an amusing one for me -- perhaps others will find it so as well. I have two bettas, purchased several months ago, on the same day at

| Fin caught in net | 30 May 2005 18:03 GMT | 2 |
We got several debauwi this weekend! (Actually, they're buffei sold as "debauwi cats.") Unfortunately, one of them got its fin stuck in the net. :( After trying gently to dislodge it for about 20 minutes, we finally cut out a small section of net around the fin and let it go.

| Hi my fish loving friends!! | 30 May 2005 10:06 GMT | 7 |
This is not a post with any questions, just a Hi Y'all from me to my friends. This is Vicki S.(the shamrock lady) from Virginia. Just a little heads up on us. We finally found a new house and moved into it in March. I am down to two tanks now, but am hoping to set up more in the ...

| Betta berserk | 29 May 2005 19:35 GMT | 10 |
OK, now I've seen everything. I fed some blackworms to my betta and his platy tankmates last night. While they were chomping away at the front of the tank, I dumped a teaspoonful of worms at the opposite back corner, down among a lawn of pygmy chain sword plants.

| tank bowing | 29 May 2005 05:26 GMT | 5 |
I just picked up a 48"long x 12" wide x 19" high tank for use as a community planted. Upon filling to check for leakage, it bowed out in the top-middle nearly a full inch! Is my concern justified? I've never had a tank bow like this before.

| looking for a seamless glass tank | 28 May 2005 22:52 GMT | 7 |
I am looking for a seamless glass tank of dimensions 15"X15"X8" (or of similar dimensions). I need all the seams to be all glass and no glue or any other adhesives. This includes the edges of the tank, the base and any other joints. I would prefer a rectangular a tank instead of a

| Looking for filteration suggestions | 28 May 2005 18:01 GMT | 9 |
I will be setting up a 125 gal tank in the next few weeks, got a great deal from a buddy of mine. But it is missing a filter. So, what kind of filter would be the best? I've got a 3 Columbian Sharks, 4 Tinfoil Barbs and several guppies that I plan on transferring into the new

| new fish suggestions? | 28 May 2005 12:07 GMT | 4 |
I am in the process of cycling my 55 gallon freshwater tank and am looking into what types of fish to get. I am new to this whole thing but my boyfriend has had tanks before. He has always liked cichlids because they tend to be hearty (i.e. generally easy to keep alive),

| Rasboras | 28 May 2005 06:58 GMT | 2 |
(having found rec.aquaria and sci.aquaria deserted, I posted over in alt.aquaria, and was directed here as perhaps being where everyone was, so I'll try posting this here, too) After several years of dry tank (for a combination of reasons) I'm

| Fw clams?? | 27 May 2005 18:04 GMT | 5 |
I found this auction on ebay, id#4384580276. It's for fw clams. I know very little about these critters but they surely would look nice in my tank. :)

| krib with rock stuck in mouth | 26 May 2005 23:35 GMT | 5 |
My female krib seems to have a rock stuck in her mouth... she's swimming around with her mouth wide open and I can't see in too well, but it looks like a rock to me. She's been like this for almost a day now... is there anything I

| Cleaning Bubble Wall | 26 May 2005 22:56 GMT | 4 |
Anyway, back to my SpongeBob tank, the bubble wall (think that's what it's called) has four holes for air. Two of them seem to be plugged. I dug around and there isn't anything in there that I can see, so I'm asking how to clean it.
